Today is Mother’s Day in the UK. It’s much earlier than here in Canada, just like the blooming of their daffodils. As my daughter and granddaughter live in the UK I think I should get Mother’s Day twice, although my daughter does not always agree with me on this. Still, that didn’t stop me creating today’s Simple Sunday project.

MOTHER’S DAY
I don’t drink tea, but I fell in love with the Tea Together Stamp Set, especially one particular sentiment. As soon as I saw it I knew I’d have to use the verses on a bookmark.
I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White Card shaped at the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. The bottom corners were shaped with the corner rounder option on the Detailed Trio Punch. Then I stamped the two-verse sentiment onto the bookmark using Tuxedo Black ink.
With that done I then used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the small 5-petal flower image all around the outside in a border. As I was stamping I turned the image a little just so it didn’t look all the same.
BRIGHT AND CHEERFUL
I wanted the bookmark to be bright and cheerful and chose three Stampin’ Blends Combos for my colour scheme.

I started by colouring a flower with the dark Highland Heather at the inside of the petals. Then I blended the colour out using the light Highland Heather. I repeated this on all the flowers in turn.
Next I coloured the leaves, starting with a little dark Granny Apple Green along the centre vein and blended out with light Granny Apple Green.
Finally I coloured the centre of each flower with light Daffodil Delight. Then I added a little C shape around one side using the dark Daffodil Delight.
Now all the colouring was complete all I needed to do was add the ribbon. I threaded a piece of Daffodil Delight 1/4″ Double-Stitched Ribbon through the slot at the top. Then I secured the ribbon in place using a bow tied from Whisper White Baker’s Twine. In no time at all my Mother’s Day bookmark project was done.

I agree with you on the sentiment in this lovely stamp set/die bundle. Even though my Mother is no longer alive, I almost want to make this into a card in commemoration … LOVE the teapot and teacup and coordinating dies … your colours would also be exactly the colours I would choose myself! Lovely, Tracy … and HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! 🙂
Thank you Geraldine, Happy UK Mother’s Day to you too.
