A few weeks ago I received my birthday present from my daughter, the Pampered Pets bundle from Stampin’ Up! For various reasons I’ve only just got round to playing with it but now I can’t put it down! So be prepared for lots of new projects featuring the cats and dogs from the set. Today for my simple Sunday project I decided to show you a quick bookmark featuring the happy cat.
I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I shaped the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to create my bookmark base.
I wanted a soft look to my stamping so instead of black I chose a Basic Gray ink pad. First I stamped the toy mouse near the bottom of the bookmark. Then above that I stamped the smiling cat. This image is actually a little wider than 2″ so I had to lose a tiny bit of the tail. Finally I stamped “enjoy” in the middle of the space above the cat.
With that done my next task was to colour in the images using Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers.
For the cat I used dark Smoky Slate along the bottom edge and around his ruff. Then I coloured everything apart from the tip of his tail with the light Smoky Slate marker. To finish, I added some dark Gray Granite around the edge of his ruff and forehead.
For the ‘floor’ I used light Gray Granite with some random scribbles so my cat no longer looked like he was floating in midair. Then I added a bright pop of colour with dark Mango Melody on the toy mouse.
To complete the bookmark I threaded some Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon through the slot and tied it in a knot.
I admit that I am definitely a ‘cat person’ and this pampered cat image really makes me smile. That said, I promise to share some other projects for the dog lovers among you in the coming weeks and months.
BUNDLE BONUS – My daughter bought the Pampered Pets Stamp Set in a bundle with the coordinating Pets Dies. This meant she saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included links to the bundle below in case you want to look at this option.
