I don’t eat a lot of cake, and when it comes to baking them I’m an abject failure. My daughter on the other hand – brilliant! Today though I had tremendous success with a double-layered chocolate cake. I’m definitely better with stamps and ink than I am flour and eggs.

SIMPLE INGREDIENTS
I began with a piece of Whisper White Card and the Piece of Cake Stamp Set.
Using Early Espresso ink I first stamped the ‘happy birthday’ sentiment towards the top of the piece. Then below that, just above the centre, I stamped the candle image in Mango Melody ink. Finally I fixed the stamped piece onto a layer of Mango Melody Card with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) and set it aside.
My chocolate cake was stamped using Early Espresso ink onto a piece of Very Vanilla Card. Next I punched it out with the coordinating Cake Builder Punch. Then I punched the Very Vanilla Card a second time without stamping it.

Finally I stamped the cake stand onto some Bermuda Bay Card using Early Espresso ink. I punched the image using the Cake Builder Punch and then punched two more cake stand shapes.
METHOD
Using liquid glue I fixed the stamped cake onto the second punched cake shape. Then I fixed it onto the layered Very Vanilla piece over the bottom edge of the candles.
Next I used liquid glue to stack the three cake stands on top of each other with the stamped one on the top. More liquid glue was then used to attach the stacked piece under the cake image.

For the card base I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Early Espresso Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. The assembled layer was then attached to the front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
FINISHING TOUCHES
To finish off my project I cut a layer of Whisper White Card to line the card base.
In the bottom right corner I used Early Espresso ink to stamp the cake stand. Next I stamped ‘count the good times – not the candles’ just above it. This piece was then fixed inside the card base using liquid glue.
All that was left was to stamp the stand one final time in the centre of the flap on a Whisper White Medium Envelope and I was done.
I love how this simple project turned out especially the stacked images. I have to admit that this has to be the most appealing cake I’ve ever made.
PIECE OF CAKE STAMP SET
I have a lot of ‘birthday’ stamp sets and wasn’t sure I needed another, until I saw this stamp set.
This photopolymer (see-through) stamp set contains 10 sentiments, the cake stand image, 6 different cakes plus 4 smaller images.

This is not just a ‘birthday’ stamp set, it would also be perfect for engagement, wedding, anniversary, new year and ‘just because’. The fact that there’s a coordinating punch doesn’t hurt either.
The stamp set and coordinating punch will be available to purchase from January 3rd when the Stampin’ Up! 2019 Occasions Catalogue goes live. As well as the individual products, you’ll also have the option to purchase them together as a bundle using a single item number. Not only does this make ordering easier, using the bundle item number will save you 10% off the cost of buying the items separately.
Well that’s my sneak peek for today, I hope you’ve enjoyed it. I’ll be back tomorrow with another 2019 Occasions Catalogue sneak peek. I hope you’ll be able to join me.
