How can we be halfway through October already! I’m definitely not prepared for winter but hopefully we can still enjoy milder autumn weather for a while longer. Leaves are definitely top of mind right now, and so for today’s simple Sunday project I wanted to create a quick and easy card using the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set. The maple leaf and seed pod images are gorgeous as this “thinking of you” card shows.

SPRING SEEDLINGS
It’s funny that I always think of trees as bearing fruit in the autumn. However when I did a little research I discovered that the winged maple tree seeds (known as samaras) actually fall in late spring and early summer. So I decided to create this card using a green. Soft Succulent to be precise.
I began by using my Paper Trimmer to cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Soft Succulent Card. Then with the long side at the top I scored it at 4-1/4″. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease using a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next I cut two pieces of Basic White Card. Once piece 3-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ and the other 4″ x 5-1/4″ Then from the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set I took the two images. Using Soft Succulent ink I stamped the large maple leaf and samara image towards the top of the smaller Basic White layer. Beneath that I added the “thinking of you” sentiment.

On the larger Basic White piece I stamped the small samara image in the top left corner. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue I fixed this layer inside the card base. Finally I stamped the samara on the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope.
With that done I cut a 3-1/2″ x 4-3/4″ piece of Soft Succulent Card and glued the remaining Basic White layer on top. Then I fixed the assembled piece to the front of the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and my card was complete.
Didn’t I tell you the images in the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set were gorgeous. Now I want to experiment with a variety of other colours and techniques. Watch this space!
