What is it about the sloth that seems to have captured people’s imaginations? I seem to be seeing them everywhere right now. I must admit that there’s something cute about their faces, and how they’re not in a hurry to do anything. It appears to quite an idyllic life, although I couldn’t cope with the really long fingernails. Still those claws are perfectly adapted for their life in the trees.
When I first saw the Back On Your Feet Stamp Set I knew I’d have to add it to my collection. It’s a fun get well / supportive kind of set, with cute animal images and punny sayings. My regular blog followers will know that I love word play and puns and so this was made for me. Today’s project however reminds me of a friend who loves sloths. So this one’s for you Becky!

THREE-TOED TREE SLOTH
I began by stamping the sloth image in the centre of a layer of Very Vanilla Card using Sahara Sand ink. Then I stamped the front of the sloth coming in from the right side of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Finally I stamped him again coming in from the right on another layer of Very Vanilla Card.
Using the Sahara Sand Classic Stampin’ ink meant that I could colour my images using Stampin’ Blends. I began by using Ivory over the whole sloth (except his bandage). Then I added some dark Crumb Cake around the edges and in the darker shaded areas. Finally I used light Crumb Cake to blend the dark colour into the Ivory, leaving a section in the centre of his body as just Ivory.
Next I coloured the leaves using dark Soft Sea Foam, blended out with the light Soft Sea Foam.
That just left the tree branch to colour with light Soft Suede, and the bandage with light Smoky Slate.
SIGH…
I love the simple “Sigh…” sentiment and stamped that below the main image using Soft Suede ink. On the second Very Vanilla layer I added another longer sentiment. This would go on the inside of the card.

QUICK AND EASY LAYERS
To assemble my project I began by wrapping some Linen Thread around the bottom of the main layer. Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to mount it onto a layer of Soft Suede Card.
I created a card base from Crumb Cake Card and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the layered piece onto the front.
Then once I’d added the other Very Vanilla piece to the inside of the card with liquid glue I was done.
I love the simplicity of this card, it seems quite in keeping with the sloth image. No drama, excitement, just hanging around. Sometimes I think it would be good to be a sloth, sigh…
