Can you believe it’s the end of August already! I swear that time must have speeded up because that’s two-thirds of the year gone in a flash. Of course there is a good side to racing into September, and that’s the Stampin’ Up! 2018 Holiday Catalogue. It goes live for customers on September 5th and for today’s sneak peek I bring you Timeless Tidings.
THE BASE AND BACKGROUND
The base for my project is a piece of Thick Whisper White Card cut and scored using my Stampin’ Trimmer. I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I added the background from the Under the Mistletoe 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper pack. This paper is available now in the 2018/2019 Annual Catalogue.
BEAUTIFUL MOMENTS
I love this sentiment from the Timeless Tidings Stamp Set and wanted it to be the star of the project. Starting with a piece of Whisper White Card wiped with an Embossing Buddy, I stamped the sentiment using VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. After I’d checked the image for any stray specks of powder, I melted the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
Next I used my die-cutting machine to cut out the sentiment with the #3 oval die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits (counting from the smallest up). Then I cut a piece of Old Olive Card using the #4 oval die from the same set.
I liked the colour of the mat piece but it was a bit too plain, so I decided to add some texture.
I placed the Old Olive piece inside the Subtle Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder so the lines would be horizontal. Then I placed the folder directly onto the platform with a cutting plate on top. The folder went though the machine hinge first, and was then rolled backwards to make a really good impression.
I attached the sentiment to the embossed mat using liquid glue then fixed it to the background with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
FINISHING TOUCHES
The gold embossed sentiment was nice but seemed to need something ‘extra’. So I tied a bow using the Night of Navy 1/2″ Gingham Ribbon and added it with Mini Glue Dots.
The decorations from the Under the Mistletoe Designer Series Paper would be my coordinating element. Taking a scrap of the paper I cut two green baubles using Paper Snips. Then using liquid glue I attached one to the centre near the top of a layer of Whisper White Card. This piece was then fixed inside the card base.
To finish I used liquid glue to add the remaining bauble to the centre of the flap on a Whisper White Medium Envelope. My project was complete.
There’s something very elegant about gold embossing that I absolutely love. That’s probably why it’s the embossing powder I use again and again on my projects.
TIMELESS TIDINGS
Timeless Tidings is a 9 piece red rubber stamp set with 5 sentiments and 4 small images. Four of the sentiments could be used on both the front and inside of cards. The new year sentiment is really for the inside, but could be easily be adapted for the front too.
The small sketchy images include a holly branch, poinsettia flower, tree and line of dots. All are designed to coordinate with the Timeless Tidings Project Kit (more about that another day). Despite that, this stamp set works really well by itself. What do you think?
Did you hear that bell? It must be playtime. So while I sneak off to my craft studio for some more crafting fun, here’s a closer look at the Timeless Tidings Stamp Set.
I hope you’ll join me tomorrow for another sneak peek.

Oh my goodness! I missed the bell! Maybe because I’m still half asleep, but not so much so that I’m not able to comment on your beautiful card and you’re right about the navy gingham bow! Perfecto! I really like this stamp set a lot (the DSP is wonderful too — got 2 to press the point! Lol) but whether you go for the kit or not, this one’s a keeper and I do love what you’ve done with it! TFS
Thank you Geraldine. I’m on my third cup of coffee (although it is half-caff). Chores done for this morning and definitely time to play.
