When I choose something new for my crafting I have a few criteria. First, I have to love it. If I’m unsure I’ll mark the item to take another look later. Sometimes I end up buying it, but there’s a lot that never makes the cut. Then I look at how it will work with other things I already have. Finally I like things that can have multiple uses, the more opportunities it gives me the better value for money. That’s how I ended up buying the Christmas Gifting Kit.

NOT JUST CHRISTMAS
When I first opened the kit I made the first tag following the instructions and then started to play. But that left me with some popped-out shapes like this star that I was determined not to waste. So today I decided it was time to go back to the kit and create a non-Christmas gift tag.
For this quick project I began by cutting a 2-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Kraft Paper. Then I ran it through an old crimping tool I’d found during a recent reorganisation session.
Next I used the Label Me Fancy Punch to add a hole in the centre of one of the short sides. From the Christmas Gifting Kit I cut 6″ of Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine, threaded it through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
Going back to the kit I took one of the sentiment strips edged in Cherry Cobbler. Then I attached it vertically on the front of the tag using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Now I needed the “waste” star from one “as designed” gift tags in the kit. (The other tag designs feature a pop-out Christmas tree shape and stag head shape.) So now all I had to do was put some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the star and add it to my new tag. With that the front was complete.

Looking in the kit once more I found a white circle piece and the exclusive Christmas Gifting Stamp Set. Using the included Shaded Spruce Mini Ink Spot I stamped “To: From: ” onto the circle. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the stamped piece on the back of the tag and I was done.
When I bought the kit I did so thinking it was so much more than a Christmas tag and giftcard holder kit. This gender-neutral tag could be for just about any occasion. It just goes to show that with a few extra bits from my stash the possibilities are endless. In fact I already have a second kit on hand.
For a closer look at the exclusive stamp set and more ideas using this kit see my earlier blog post Christmas Gifting Kit.
