It may be 7am in the morning but I’m already melting in the heatwave we[re experiencing here in Nova Scotia. So hopefully you’ll forgive me for thinking of winter. I may have become a little obsessed with Stampin’ Up!’s designer series paper (DSP) recently and I opened another new pack today. Snowflake Splendor is the name of the 12″ x 12″ pack and it’s part of the Snowflake Splendor Suite. Today however I didn’t use the stamp set and dies from the suite. This project is all about a sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set instead.

SNOWFLAKE SPLENDOR
I began my design by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score a piece of Misty Moonlight Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
All the imagery on my project would come not from stamps, but from one of the gorgeous snowflake designs on the paper. I cut three pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) altogether. First I cut a piece 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and attached it to the front of the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). Next I cut a piece 2-1/4″ x 6″ and glued it to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed the DSP with Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Finally I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of the DSP. This I glued down the right hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White Card. Then I glued the assembled layer onto the inside of the card base.
SPIRIT OF PEACE
With the DSP finished it was time to turn my attention to the Peaceful Boughs Stamp Set. The sentiment I wanted was the large one focused on the word ‘peace’. This seemed particularly appropriate for the soft snowy imagery of the DSP.

Using Misty Moonlight ink I first stamped the sentiment onto Thick Whisper White Card. Then I cut it out using the #4 circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies (counting from the smallest up).
Next, as I was deciding exactly where to place the sentiment, I thought that it needed to be ‘anchored’ to the background. So I cut a 1-1/4″ x 4-1/4″ strip of Misty Moonlight Card. Then I cut a 1″ x 4-1/4″ strip of Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper. Using liquid glue I mounted the Glimmer Paper onto the card strip and then fixed it to my card front.
After that, all I had to do was attach the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my project was complete.
This design turned out exactly as I’d hoped. Not everyone looks forward to a ‘merry’ Christmas and this card is a peaceful alternative. What do you think?
