Today’s blog project is more of a ‘show and tell’ than an instruction manual. Yesterday I received the new dies Poppy Moments Dies and immediately wanted to create something with them. I’ve already seen lots of lovely projects and decided to try something a little different. So instead of using coloured card I chose coloured vellum for my flowers.

PERENNIAL ESSENCE VELLUM
I love the Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Vellum Cardstock. You get 4 sheets of So Saffron, Petal Pink and Old Olive vellum in the pack. Then I used the standard Vellum Cardstock for the base.
To secure everything in place I used a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) applied to the vellum with some Stampin’ Sponge.
First I found a short white pillar candle and after measuring the height, wrapped the Vellum Cardstock around it. I decided to glue the end of the strip to itself so that the wrap could slide off if needed.
Then I just needed to die cut my flower and leaf pieces.
POPPY MOMENTS DIES
From the Petal Pink vellum I cut two of the larger solid flowers and two of the smaller solid flowers. Then I cut two each of the detailed flower overlays.
From the Old Olive vellum I cut seven of the solid single leaves and seven of the coordinating detailed overlays.
Finally from the So Saffron vellum I cut two semi-circle flower centres and two of the detailed circular centres. Then I finished off by cutting a few of the V shaped pieces (small leaves?).
All I had to do now was assemble all the various pieces using liquid glue.

One by one I placed the overlay pieces onto the craft sheet so I could lightly tap the glue onto the back. Then using tweezers I fixed the overlays onto the corresponding solid shapes.
With all the layering done it was then a simple task to attach the assembled pieces onto the candle wrap. In order to give a 3D look I attached the flowers just at the centre, and the leaves by the lower half. In next to no time I was done.
I love how this project turned, out it’s so delicate but quite quick to make. What do you think?
I must admit this isn’t the first time I’ve made vellum flowers. You can see another example in my blog post Enjoy Canada Day.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Poppy Moments Dies in a bundle with the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set (not used today). This saved me 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle below in case you want to look at this option.
