We’re now halfway through the year and today is Canada Day. Here in Nova Scotia it’s grey and raining, and well below seasonal temperatures, not ideal for a celebration. Still there’s a good chance that it will improve later so people can enjoy the fireworks. Let’s hope so.

ENJOY TODAY
For my project today I decided to create a pretty gift tag using the Good Morning Magnolia bundle.
I began with a 1″ x 3-3/4″ strip of Shimmery White Card and used Old Olive ink to stamp the “Enjoy today” sentiment.
Then I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach the sentiment to a 1-1/4″ strip of So Saffron Vellum from the Perennial Essence 12″ x 12″ Vellum Cardstock pack. This was then glued to 1-1/2″ x 3-3/4″ strip of Shimmery White Card. With that done I punched one end of the assembled tag using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.
To complete the tag base I threaded some Whisper White Baker’s Twine through the hole and tied it in a simple knot.
VELLUM MAGNOLIA
That just left the decoration for the tag, a magnolia flower created entirely using coloured vellum from the Perennial Essence Vellum pack.
Using the dies from the Magnolia Memory Dies I began with the Petal Pink vellum. I die-cut two of the largest 3 petal flower, and two of the medium one. Then from the Old Olive vellum I die-cut 4 leaves. Finally from the So Saffron vellum I die-cut two of the larger stamen pieces.

Next I used my Bone Folder too curve all the pieces. The flower petals were curved upwards, the leaves backwards, and the stamens in towards the centre. Finally I cut one of the larger flower pieces into three separate petals using Paper Snips.
To assemble my flower I punched a 1″ circle of Petal Pink Vellum then used liquid glue to attach the three single petals to the edge. Next I added the other large petal piece, followed by the two smaller ones, off-setting the petals each time.

Now I turned the flower over and with more liquid glue tucked the four leaves between the flower petals and the vellum circle, making sure the leaves curved in the opposite direction to the petals.
Finally I stacked the two stamen pieces in the centre of the flower and made sure that they stood up like a little cup.
All that was left was to use liquid glue to attach the completed flower to the layered card strips and my gift tag was done.
Oh my goodness, I’m in love with this coloured vellum, and the magnolia flower. It makes me even more keen to get the Hot Air Balloon Punch so I can punch larger petals to build even more impressive flowers. I feel the need to create a decor piece… What do you think?
