Last week I created a card using the Greatest Journey Stamp Set and coordinating dies. It was a clean and simple card with minimal colours and design elements. At the end of the post I mentioned that part of the Suite includes some 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP). I also admitted that I’d somehow managed to miss it off my order and would be sure to get it next time. So you can imagine my delight when I discovered it has been added to the free Sale-A-Bration choices!

GREATEST JOURNEY
This project actually started with a ‘reject’ piece. I’d been working on a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Basic White Card and tried to add a light layer of Pool Party ink with a Blending Brush. Unfortunately I’d been over-eager with the ink refill and the pad was much too juicy. As a result even though I started off the card on scrap paper I’d ended up with a rather wet looking edge. It really wasn’t what I wanted so I put the card strip aside and started again with Balmy Blue.
Today though I decided that I was just going make the most of the (now dry) inky strip. I pulled out the Greatest Journey Stamp Set and chose the nice chunky fir tree image. Using Shaded Spruce ink I stamped the trees at the bottom of the strip. Then I reinked the stamp and ‘stamped off’ onto some scrap paper before stamping a second lighter image beside the original one. Once I’d filled in the space with dark and light trees I was ready for the sentment.

Going back to the Greatest Journey Stamp Set I knew exactly what I wanted, “This moment is the start of something great”. As soon as I saw this I knew it was perfect for a bookmark. So using the same Shaded Spruce ink pad I stamped the sentiment in the space above the trees.
Finally to turn the card strip into a bookmark I made a hole at the top using the slot option on the Very Best Trio Punch. Then I threaded 6″ of Sahara Sand 3/8″ Twill Ribbon through the slot and secured it in place with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive. At last my project was done and that ‘rejected’ piece had become the perfect background.
