This month’s #simplestamping challenge from Stampin’ Up! is to make a simple birthday card using just stamps, ink and paper. So without any expensive tools or complicated techniques I set to work on this week’s Simple Sunday project.

WOVEN THREADS PAPER
This design is all about the Woven Threads 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP). I choose a piece where the two sides had a good contrast of colours and design and cut it to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
Then I began to create a series of folds, and started by bringing the top right corner over. I pressed the fold line with my finger and then folded the corner back towards the crease. Then I pressed that crease and folded the corner back one more time.
With the folding done I held everything in place with a little Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) under the centre of each fold. This allowed the paper to lift slightly and the folds appear softer. To add a little extra contrast I then added a 1/8″ strip of Whisper White Card to the DSP just in from the main diagonal fold.
Finally I used liquid glue to attach the DSP to the front of a Thick Whisper White Card base.
MORE PATTERNED PAPER
Using a 1″ strip of the same piece of patterned paper I folded 1/4″ over down the long edge and glued it in place. Then I added this folded piece to a layer of Whisper White Card before fixing it inside the card base.

Once final piece of the DSP was glued to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then using Paper Snips I cut the DSP to shape using the edge of the flap as a guide.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
The “Happy birthday from all of us” sentiment comes from the Welcome To The Team Stamp Set. Using Pretty Peacock ink I simply stamped it in the top right corner of the card base, and my project was complete.

I don’t think I’ve ever created a card with a folded DSP design before. I might try a few different arrangements to see what different looks I can get. What do you think?
VERY pretty! and what a difference that narrow strip of white card stock makes, for sure!!
Thank you Geraldine, I’m always nervous when I try something different.
