It's A Casual Shirt & Tie Kind Of Day

It’s the weekend and where I am it’s going to be a miserable rainy day. So there’s nothing to do except put on something comfy, stay in and craft. After a couple of weeks playing with products from the new Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue I thought it was time for a change. There’s been a lot of florals just recently too so today I wanted to bring you something a bit more masculine. WELL SUITED

My project actually began when I found a very simple check pattern in the Well Suited Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. It reminded me of a casual shirt and this bookmark idea popped into my head.

First I cut a strip of DSP 2″ x 5-1/2″ and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) attached it to a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Basic White Card. Then using the Detailed Trio Punch I punched an oval hole at the top in the centre.

Next. from the Well Suited Twine Combo Pack I cut two 6″ pieces of Basic Gray twine. I folded them in half and then passed the loops through the hole at the top of the bookmark. After threading the ends of the twine through the loops I pulled tight to secure them in place.

COLLAR AND TIE

All I needed now was to create a collar and tie and I started with the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set. I chose the long diamond pattern tie stamp and Tuxedo Black ink. Then I stamped the image onto some Pacific Point Card.

Next I pulled out the coordinating Suit & Tie Dies. First I used the long tie die to cut out the stamped tie image. Then I cut some Basic White Card using the collar die from the set.

Finally I used liquid glue to attach the collar to the bookmark, lining it up with the top edge. Then I carefully slid the tie under the bottom edge of the collar and pressed everything firmly into place. In no time at all my casual shirt and tie bookmark was done.

I must say that I love how easy it is to make masculine projects using the Handsomely Suited Stamp Set and Suit & Tie Dies. It’s one set of products I may never get rid of.

HEADS UP!

Now that Stampin’ Up! has changed the timing of their annual and mini catalogues it gives us a little more warning about products that are likely to retire.

The Handsomely Suited Stamp Set and coordinating Suit & Tie Dies are in the 2021/2022 Annual Catalogue and available until next year. However… the bundle is not in the new catalogue. This means if you want to get both items and save 10% you only have until June 30th to place your order. I’ve included links for both options below in case you want to explore these.

Other items not appearing the the annual catalogue and therefore likely to be retired in June are the Well Suited DSP and Well Suited Twine Combo Pack. So if you want either of these it might be worth placing your order sooner rather than later. This is because stocks of retiring products may be limited towards the end of the sales period.
