Are you having a good day? It’s Mother’s Day in Canada and the US, although as in 2020 you might need to celebrate it CoVid-style. It’s hard to be apart from those you love, but if it keeps them safe and healthy it’s worth it. We’re lucky that we can keep in touch using social media, video chats and the telephone, but sometimes a hand-written note is more meaningful. So today’s simple Sunday project is a quick card featuring a frog that looks like he’s thinking of just the right thing to say.

A SOFT SUCCULENT FROG
Don’t panic, I’m not planning to eat a frog. This project started when I wanted to see how the frog from the Oh Snap Stamp Set would look if stamped onto Soft Succulent Card. In fact I quite liked the muted colour contrasting with the new Evening Evergreen ink . After stamping my frog onto the card I decided to cut him out using Paper Snips and set him aside.
Then I went looking for a suitable background and found it in the new Beauty Of The Earth 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
First I cut a 2″ x 3-1/4″ piece of the blue washed background design. Next, using Soft Succulent ink I stamped the lilypad image from the Oh Snap Stamp Set directly onto the DSP. Then with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the frog onto the stamps leaves. Finally I took the “Hello Friend!” sentiment from the Oh Snap Stamp Set and stamped that above the frog using Evening Evergreen ink.
SIMPLE LAYERS
With the focal image done I now needed to prepare the rest of the project. I started by using my Paper Trimmer to cut and scored some Misty Moonlight Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.

Next I cut a 2-1/8″ x 3-3/8″ piece of Basic White Card and used liquid glue to mount the stamped DSP onto it. To complete the front of the card I simply attached the assembled piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I decided to keep the frog as my coordinating feature and went back to the Evening Evergreen ink pad.
First I stamped the frog in the bottom right corner of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card. Then with liquid glue I fixed the layer inside the card base. Finally I stamped the frog in the centre of the flap on a Basic White Medium Envelope and my #simplestamping project was complete.
This little frog is so cute. I love experimenting with new colours of card and ink and the Misty Moonlight/Soft Succulent combination is one I’ll likely use again. What do you think?
