Last week I created a birthday gift tag with a dancing chicken. I loved how bright and cheerful it was, but it did involve quite a bit of work. So for this week’s simple Sunday project I wanted to pare it right back. Today’s project is a “Just for you” tag with a winter theme, using a couple of label punches to create the tag base.

LABEL TAG
Instead of making a rectangular tag using one of Stampin’ Tag Topper Punches I thought I’d see what other punches I could use. It was then I noticed the Label Me Fancy and Label Me Lovely Punches and that gave me an idea.
I began with the Label Me Fancy Punch. I’d never really though of it before but it’s another triple punch. There’s the main label piece, plus it can punch a ribbon slot and a separate twine hole. I opted to punch the top of a piece of Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper by turning the punch upside down so I could see the cutting areas. Then I slid the Watercolor Paper into the punch on the hole side, just as far as the edge of the label section. Then I punched down.

With the hole done I then slid the Watercolour Paper into the Label Me Lovely Punch. Looking at the bottom of the punch I was able to centre the punched hole on one of the straight sides. Then when I punched I had my tag complete with the hole for the twine.
SIMPLE WINTER SCENE
To decorate the tag I first pressed onto the lid of my closed Balmy Blue ink pad. This transferred some ink from the foam pad to the inside of the lid. Then I used a Water Painter to pick up some of the ink and quickly painted a rough area on the tag. After waiting a couple of minutes for that to dry a little I then added a bit more ink to darken the top section.
Once I was sure the painted area was completely dry it was safe to stamp the final details.
Using Crumb Cake ink I first stamped the single tree image from the Nature’s Beauty Stamp Set. Then from the Sweet Strawberry Stamp Set I chose “just for you” and stamped that beside the tree.
Finally I took some white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and threaded it through the punched hole. With the twine tied in a simple knot my all occasion winter tag was complete.
At 2-1/16″ x 2-1/16″ the tag isn’t huge, but it’s plenty big enough to write on the back. I think I might just punch out a few more of these tag bases so I have them ready to decorate another time. What do you think?
