So I have an excuse for my blog being sooo late today. On Thursday we had a storm with snow and freezing rain that continued into yesterday. That was then followed by very high winds that took out our power in the early hours of this morning. That wouldn’t have been too much of an issue if I’d made up my project and written my blog the night before. But I didn’t. So without any power, I spent this morning relying on variable daylight. At least I had pretty card and paper to brighten my crafting time. Then only once the power came back could I edit my photos and get my blog post done.
I said I had an excuse, I didn’t say it was a good one…

PRETTY CARD AND PAPER
I began today’s project with one of my favourite colours, Granny Apple Green. First, using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored the card then folded it along the scored line. Once I’d sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder I had my card base ready to go.
Next for the background I chose a piece from the Lily Impressions 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. After cutting the paper I added it to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
BY THE DOCK
For my focal point I chose the By The Dock Stamp Set. I love the little frog image and thought he should be the star of my project. So using Granny Apple Green ink I first stamped him in the centre of the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope.
Next I stamped him in the bottom right corner on a layer of Very Vanilla Card. Then I used liquid glue to add the layer to the inside of the card base. Now I was ready to concentrate on the front of the card.

From the By The Dock Stamp Set I took the shoreline image and stamped it onto a smaller piece of Very Vanilla Card using Gray Granite ink. Then to add some subtle colour I used the light Granny Apple Green Stampin’ Blends Marker to colour in the leaves and a little of the grass on the image.
Next I stamped the “here for you” sentiment in the centre of the piece using Granny Apple Green ink. Then I used liquid glue to mount the layer onto some Granny Apple Green Card. With that done I wrapped some Gorgeous Grape 1/4″ Mini Striped Ribbon around the layers and tied it at the front in a square knot.
Finally I stamped the frog image one last time on a scrap of Granny Apple Green Card using Granny Apple Green ink. Then using Paper Snips I cut him out and glued him in place on the shoreline.
All that was left was for me to add the assembled layers to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I was done.
It was only after I’d finished that it occurred to me to look closely at the coordinating Dockside Dies. There I found a die to cut out the cute frog image and save me the trouble of fussy-cutting it. Oh well, maybe next time…
