Yes it’s time for another winter storm, followed by a day to clean up before the next one hits. Did I tell you I’m ready for winter to be over? It’s no wonder I was inspired to create this bookmark with pretty poppies and “new beginnings” sentiment.

COLOURED POPPIES
I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Thick Whisper White Card shaped at the top using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
Then using some Stampin’ Sponge I added a light coating of Seaside Spray ink. Towards the bottom of the bookmark I finished the sponging with Shaded Spruce ink.
Next using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the tall pair of poppies from the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. Then I followed that with a sentiment from the free Sale-A-Bration stamp set, Power of Hope.
To colour the poppies I choose Stampin’ Blends light and dark combos in Poppy Parade and Old Olive.
I thought I was finished but the bookmark seemed to lack texture so I went back to the Painted Poppies Stamp Set. Using Seaside Spray ink I stamped around the edge using part of the large splatter image.
That just left the twine and I chose two different colours, Poppy Parade and Basic Black. These are two of the colours in the Country Club Twine Combo Pack (the other two are Garden Green and Night of Navy). I cut two pieces of Poppy Parade and one Basic Black and folded them in half. Then I threaded the three loops together through the slot at the top of the bookmark. Finally I passed the cut ends through the loops and pulled to secure them in place. In no time at all my poppies bookmark was complete.
So with my blog done I can spend the rest of the day playing in my craft studio and dreaming of spring. If I remember not to look out the window I’ll hopefully forget about the storm until it’s over.
You can see another project created with the Painted Poppies Stamp Set in my blog post Painted Poppies Sneak Peek.
PRODUCT LIST
I bought the Painted Poppies Stamp Set as part of a bundle with the Painted Labels Dies (not used today). This meant I saved 10% off the cost buying the same items separately. I’ve included both options below in case you want to look at this in more detail. If you buy the Painted Poppies Stamp Set or bundle through me by February 14th I’ll send you instructions and all the pieces needed to make 4 projects using the stamp set. Just make sure you allow Stampin’ Up! to share your personal details with me when you sent up your account profile so I know where to send the project pack.
I also mentioned that the Power of Hope was a free Sale-A-Bration Stamp Set. This means that it cannot be bought, only earned by placing a qualifying order. This stamp set is part of a bundle with the Stone 3D Embossing Folder and you can choose it if you place an order reaching $120 CAD (before shipping and taxes). Check out the Sale-A-Bration Brochure for more information and lots more free products.
Oh so excited about these ideas and products.
