As soon as I saw the Sun Prints 12” x 12” Designer Series Paper (DSP) I was smitten. I’m quite a fan of blue, and loved the designs which reminded me of school experiments from years back. That pack immediately made it into my first order and I’ve used it quite a bit. So imagine my surprise when I discovered I could get the best designs (in my opinion) from Sun Prints in other colours! Once the Pretty Prints DSP pack arrived I couldn’t wait to make my first project.

SAME PRINTS
For today’s very quick bookmark I chose the same pattern in three of the four colours included in the pack. (I’m saving the Evening Evergreen sheet for something else.) So from the Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss sheets I cut a 2-1/2 ” x 3″ strip.
TIP – Check the pattern on the reverse before you cut to make sure you’re happy with the piece you’ll have left for other projects.
Then with the three pieces of DSP stacked on top of each other I cut across them at an angle.
For the bookmark base I cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card. Then all I had to do was attach the coloured pieces with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) leaving a narrow gap between each one. The strips were slightly wider than the base but that allowed me to adjust them to create the look I wanted.
With the strips in place I trimmed off the excess then punched a hole at the top using the Label Me Fancy Punch.
Finally I cut two 6″ pieces of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack and folded them in half. After poking the loops through the hole I threaded the cut ends through the loops and pulled gently to secure them. Job done.
This bookmark really was simple to make and I love it! I can’t believe I repeatedly overlooked this paper but it’s right there at the bottom of page 133. Did you see it?
PRODUCT LIST
If you already have the Sun Prints DSP , Pretty Prints features 6 of the 12 designs from that pack but in four new colours. The easiest way to explain it is that the following designs found in the Sun Prints DSP are NOT included in the Pretty Prints pack… all four of the patterns printed in Gray Granite, plus the blue spotted and striped sheets. I hope that makes sense. If you want to see larger photos of the paper, click on the link below and you’ll find individual photos of each sheet on the left.
Of course don’t forget that the Pretty Prints DSP also coordinates with the Nature’s Prints Stamp Set and Natural Prints Dies. The stamp set and dies can be purchased separately, or save 10% by ordering them together as the Nature’s Prints Bundle.
