So yesterday for the first time in a number of years I didn’t publish my daily blog post. But I have a good excuse. Last week our daughter had twin girls by emergency c-section. Alexis was the first to arrive at 4lb 11oz, with little sister Florence following 10 seconds later at 4lb 1oz. Despite being born at just 34-1/2 weeks both the girls were strong enough to avoid needing special care. Instead they spent a week with Mummy on the transitional ward before finally being able to go home. We can’t praise the staff at Wexham Park Hospital highly enough for making this possible.
Due to COVID restrictions, travelling from Canada to the UK was very challenging. I had a lot of paperwork to complete and tests to pass but after a very stressful five days I finally arrived. I have more tests to complete while I’m here but so far all is good. However while I have a stack of projects made and blog posts planned, they’re not written. So over the next little while they’ll happen if and when Grandma duties allow, I’m sure you understand.
Anyway, today’s project is a quick and easy card created as part of my personal World Cardmaking Day challenge last October. It’s a simple card featuring a sentiment from the Strong & Beautiful Stamp Set.

ORNATE GARDEN
I began this project using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Old Olive Card. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base.
Next I chose the pretty yellow background daisy pattern from the Ornate Garden 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP).
I cut one piece of paper 3″ x 5-1/2″ and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) mounted it onto a 3-1/8″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Bumblebee Card. Then I fixed the assembled layers onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
My second piece of DSP was cut 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ and glued down the right-hand side of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White Card. To add a little contrast I cut a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ strip of Bumblebee Card. and glued it along the edge of the DSP strip. Finally I fixed the Whisper White piece inside the card base.
My last piece of DSP was cut 2-1/4″ x 6″ and I glued it to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess DSP with Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
STRONG AND BEAUTIFUL
Now all that was left was the sentiment, and the Strong & Beautiful Stamp Set was top of my mind. I love this set as it’s full of really lovely meaningful sentiments and this time I chose “I cherish you my true friend, I know I can always count on you”.

Using Early Espresso ink stamped the sentiment onto a 1-7/8″ x 2-1/8″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then using liquid glue I layered it onto a 2-1/8″ x 2-3/8″ piece of Bumblebee Card.
Finally, I added the layered sentiment onto the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. In absolutely no time at all I was done.
I love the simplicity of this card and it’s a layout that can be easily adapted to other occasions. But now if you’ll excuse me, my two strong and beautiful granddaughters are calling.

They are absolutely adorable! Enjoy every minute with them – stamping and blogging can wait!
Thank you Jean
Congratulations on your grandchildren, I have an aside question. I am looking at travelling to Northern Ireland and as you say there is so much paperwork. I was told there is a two week quarantine in the U k but from your story this was not in place? Just wondering as trying to get through all of the red tape once I get my first vaccinations, thanks enjoy your trip !
Thank you Eileen. As far as travelling, there are a lot of variables and things are changing daily so I am not able to offer any advice other than to do your research.
Your grandbabies are precious. Love your posts!
Thank you Gail
Congratulations Tracy. How very exciting! Enjoy your visit with your family and those lovely baby cuddles 🙂
