My regular blog readers will know that I love it when there’s dies or punches that coordinate with stamp images. I’m sure I’m not the only one. But if push comes to shove I’m not afraid of a little fussy cutting. That’s exactly what I needed to do on today’s cupcake tag project, but not for much longer…

ONE FOR THE BOYS
Today I decided to use the free Hello Cupcake Stamp Set from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure to make a tag that would be suitable for the boys. The Hello Cupcake Stamp Set cannot be purchased. It can only be chosen as FREE item with a $60 CAD order (before shipping and taxes.
I began with some Shimmery White Card and with my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform cut one out using the #7 plain-edge die from the Layering Framelits (counting from the smallest up).
Then from a piece of Balmy Blue Card I cut a scalloped oval using the #4 scalloped-edge die from the Layering Ovals Framelits. What I actually wanted was the ‘waste’ piece, so I put the die-cut oval aside for another project.
Next I laid the slightly larger #5 scalloped-edge oval die onto the Balmy Blue waste piece. I checked that the die was centred over the hole and I could see an even border of blue card inside the die. Then I ran that through the Big Shot to create a blue frame with scalloped edges on the inside and outside. Finally using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the frame to the tag base.
To tie the tag I first needed to add a hole. I did this using the oval hole option on the Detailed Trio Punch.
Then I took two 6″ pieces of Whisper White Solid Baker’s Twine and coloured one of the pieces using the brush tip of a Light Balmy Blue Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker. Once it was dry I then wrapped the second piece of twine around it. Finally I threaded the twine through the hole in the tag, tied it in a simple knot and set that aside.
HELLO CUPCAKE
Now it was time to make my cupcake.
I began with the ‘celebrate your day’ sentiment stamped onto Shimmery White Card with Blueberry Bushel ink. Using Paper Snips I then cut around the sentiment and set it aside.
Next came the cupcake liner image inked up with Blueberry Bushel ink. I stamped-off onto some scrap paper and then immediately stamped onto the small Balmy Blue check from the Gingham Gala 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper (DSP). Then using my Paper Snips again, I cut out the image and set it aside.
Next it was the icing image, inked up with So Saffron ink. I stamped-off onto scrap paper then immediately stamped the image onto some Very Vanilla Card. Finally, using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sprinkles image onto the icing. The way I stamped the image left the very top of the icing bare, so I reinked the stamp and added a couple more sprinkles. Once again I used my Paper Snips to cut out this completed image.
All that was left was the sliver of cake designed to peek out beneath the icing. I fancied chocolate cake, so stamped the image using Early Espresso ink. Once more I picked up my Paper Snips and cut out the stamped image.
Now I was ready for the final assembly.

I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the cupcake pieces to the left side of the tag base. Then with more Stampin’ Dimensionals I layered the sentiment on top and I was done.
THE ICING ON THE CAKE?
I love how this large gift tag turned out, even if it did involve quite a bit of fussy cutting. I know many of you aren’t keen on fussy cutting and I get that. In fact so does Stampin’ Up! That’s why from March 1st to 15th there will be some new coordinating Framelits dies available for you to buy (while stocks last).
Yes you read it correctly. Coordinating dies for the Hello Cupcake Stamp Set. And that’s not all. Also going on sale on March 1st are coordinating dies for the So Hoppy Together and Lasting Lily Stamp Sets too. In addition there’s a new punch that will fit the sentiment only stamp set Part Of My Story. Finally there’s a sentiment only stamp set which is designed to extend the design possibilities of the Sale-A-Bration stamp sets even further. All these coordinating items will only be available to purchase from March 1st to March 31st, while stocks last.
Before then, on February 15th, some new items will be added to your free Sale-A-Bration choices. There’s a new stamp set designed to work perfectly with the Stamparatus, and a new floral Dynamic embossing folder designed to coordinate with the Gingham Gala Suite. Finally there’s a DistINKtive floral stamp set and Designer Series Paper Bundle. The images in this final stamp set coordinate with one more limited availability Framelits set that will be available for purchase starting March 1st.
Now as the punch and dies coordinate with Sale-A-Bration items which are only available until March 31st, Stampin’ Up! only have a limited number of each available. When the supplies they have in the warehouse are gone, that’s it. I have a feeling they may even sell out before the end of the promotion on March 31st. So if you want any of the new dies, punch or stamp set, be prepared to order them as soon as they become available to customers on March 1st.
Watch for more information about these items in the coming weeks. I’ll have links on my website to the new Sale-A-Bration Leaflet on February 15th, and the separate Sale-A-Bration Coordination Leaflet on March 1st.
Well I think it’s time for breakfast and another coffee before I head back into my craft studio. I do hope you’ll join me again tomorrow to see my latest project.
