Yesterday I promised you an autumn-themed sneak peek. There’s lots of choices in the September to December 2023 Mini Catalogue but this product is definitely my favourite. The All About Autumn 6” x 6” Specialty Designer Series Paper was the very first thing I put on my Demonstrator pre-order. Warm autumn colours always draw me in, and in combination with copper foil it’s simply gorgeous. Of course today’s Sunday and that means my project is very simple. No need for expensive tools or complicated techniques with this pretty covered notebook.

AUTUMN LEAVES
One of the problems with inexpensive composition books is that the black binding is often applied crooked. So today, instead of measuring the front and back covers, I decided to improvise. Having chosen the autumn leaves paper I put Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) over the front cover, avoiding the black binding. Then I placed the sheet of DSP onto the cover sliding the straight edge of the piece tight up against the edge of the binding. Now it was a simple task to trim off the excess DSP with my Paper Snips, using the edges of the notebook cover as a guide.
Turning to the back of the notebook I planned to cover it in exactly the same way. However first I cut 8″ of Moody Mauve 3/8″ Textured Ribbon. Then using a little Tear & Tape Adhesive I fixed one end of the ribbon to the outside back cover at the top (about 1/4″ from the black binding). Then with liquid glue over the cover I fixed the DSP on top. Once again slid the straight edge of the paper tight against the binding before I trimmed off the excess with my Paper Snips. To stop the exposed end of the ribbon from fraying I put a little Tear & Tape at the bottom edge and simply folded it over.
I still had some of the autumn leaves sheet left so I cut a piece 1-1/2″ x 2-11/16″ (the width from the binding to the edge). I then cut a 1-5/8″ x 2-11/16″ piece of Basic Black Card. With liquid glue on the leafy side of the DSP I mounted it onto the card, revealing the copper foil design on the back.
For my sentiment I chose the medium sized “Just a note” from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set. Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped it onto a scrap of Very Vanilla Card. Then I simply cut around it using my Paper Snips. After gluing the sentiment to the foiled DSP I attached the assembled layers to the front of my notebook. In minutes my simple project was complete.
AUTUMN COLOURS
So now let me tell you a little more about the gorgeous All About Autumn 6″ x 6″ Specialty DSP. First up there’s 48 sheets (4 each of 12 double-sided designs). The main colours used are Copper Clay, Mossy Meadow, Pretty Peacock, Moody Mauve and Very Vanilla. Each sheet has a photographed design on one side, while on the reverse of every sheet is a simpler background-style design that includes the copper foil accents.
Here’s a quick look at all the different patterns you’ll get…

You’ll notice that not all of the photo designs are strictly autumn-themed which makes this pack useful all year round. In addition to the obvious autumn leaves, trees and pumpkins, there’s wood planks, books, buttoned leather and fabric. This makes the pack great for masculine and gender-neutral projects too.
Here’s the other half of the pack, what do you think?

So that’s all for today. I hope you’ll join me again tomorrow for a sneak peek of a new stamp set and coordinating punch.
DSP is unavailable until next week. 😕
Thanks Florence, I realised the All About Autumn was a little delayed after I’d completed my blog post. I understand that there was a faulty batch that had to be pulled from the warehouse, and new stocks are currently showing as expected in the week beginning September 11th.
