It’s been a busy morning with Stampin’ Up! announcing a one-day stamp set sale on Wednesday. Stamp sets rarely go on sale so I plan to check my wish list and take full advantage of the deals. So while I do that, here’s a pretty card that I hope gives you an excuse to be creative today.
STRIKING PATTERNED PAPER
This project began with a very striking pattern from the Magnolia Lane 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
First I used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach a piece of the DSP to a layer of Whisper White Card. Next I glued another piece to the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then using Paper Snips I cut the DSP to shape using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Finally I cut a 1″ strip of the DSP and glued it along the bottom edge of another layer of Whisper White Card. This layer would line my finished card base.
Next came the “thank you” sentiment from the Magnolia Blooms Stamp Set. I used Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the sentiment onto a piece of Whisper White Card. Then I cut it out using the #2 oval die from the Stitched Shapes Dies (counting from the smallest up).
After that I chose some 5/8″ Flax Ribbon to add some delicate texture to the card. I wrapped it around the main background piece and secured it on the back with Tear & Tape Adhesive. Then I fixed the sentiment over the top of the ribbon using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
BLACK CARD BASE
I loved the back background on the DSP and wanted to highlight that with a Basic Black Card base.
First I fixed the ribbon wrapped layer to the front of the card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Then to finish I used liquid glue to add the remaining Whisper White layer on the inside.
This was quite a quick project to make, but it’s very striking, don’t you think.
