Candy On The Side

December 18, 2022 Leave a Comment

One week today will be Christmas Day which means if you haven’t yet posted your Christmas cards they’re not going to arrive in time. Still there’s lots of crafting to do to get ready for the big day and less and less time to do it in. So for this week’s simple Sunday project I thought I’d show you a quick way to package a small treat. With scraps of patterned paper, some embellishments and ribbon I set to work. The By My Side Stamp Set was just close by.

SIMPLE SIDE PROJECT

I created two slightly different options for treat projects you could put beside a place setting. Or perhaps you could leave one with your tip when out for a meal. The actual size of paper you’ll need will depend on the treat you chose but the process is the same for all.

First I measured my treat and cut a strip of paper about 1/2″ wider. Then I wrapped the paper around the treat so the ends overlapped by about 1-1/4″. I marked the position with a pencil then removed the paper and cut it at the pencil mark. Before going any further I made a note of the final measurements of the paper so I could quickly cut more wraps for the same treats.

After that I took one of the cut strips and folded back one end at about 1/2″ to reveal the pattern on the other side. Then I wrapped the paper around the treat once more but this time used Tear & Tape Adhesive to stick the paper to itself. Next I wrapped some ribbon around the middle of the wrapped treat and tied it in a bow at the side. Now I could fold back the 1/2″ section and stick it down with more Tear & Tape Adhesive.

Of course not everyone likes tying bows so I decided to make a second option without the ribbon. After wrapping the treat I glued down the folded flap and both packages were ready for a sentiment.

I have lots of different sentiments I could use but the By My Side Stamp Set was on my desk from an earlier project. So on some narrow strips of card I stamped “Hi, sweet friend” and “Here for you”.

Then using Paper Snips I cut a V at the end of each sentiment before adding them to the treat wraps with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I added a few rhinestone embellishments to the wrap without the ribbon just to dress it up a little. In mere minutes my treats were ready to give away.

Oh my goodness I love how quick and easy these wraps are to make. What do you think?
