My regular blog readers will know that I love experimenting in my craft studio. Whether it’s trying new techniques, or exploring new colour combinations, some work some don’t. For today’s Simple Sunday project I decided to play with the images in the new Forever Fern Stamp Set. However instead of greens I opted for different shades of blue.

BLUE TIMES FOUR
In the end I chose four of the blues in the Stampin’ Up! range; Balmy Blue, Seaside Spray, Night of Navy and the new Misty Moonlight.
Then I assigned all the stamps from the Forever Fern Stamp Set to one of the colours. There’s actually seven images in the set so some of the ink colours would be used for two of them.
For a real change, instead of stamping onto cardstock I pulled out some clean ‘white’ newsprint. I purchased a box of 100 sheets from our local U-Haul centre but you could probably buy it from any moving company.

With the paper laid out all I did was stamp the images randomly over the paper. To make my life easier I stamped the larger images first and then filled in the gaps with the smaller ones. Each time I stamped I turned the image so that they all went in different directions. After stamping the six different leaf images I finished by filling in any small empty spaces using the dotted splatter stamp from the set.
And that was it.
All in all I’m quite happy with the result and it’s given me some ideas for stamping something similar on cardstock for a future project. What do you think?
