Yesterday’s freezing rain was more like ice pellets but at least the power stayed on. Now it’s back to rain again and our mild winter continues. It’s hard to believe it’s already mid-January! But it’s the beginning of another week and time to break out two bundles from the Stampin’ Up! January to April 2023 Mini Catalogue. The image-only Petal Park and sentiment-only Happy Labels seem to be a match made in heaven. Add in the coordinating Petal Park Builder Punch and Happy Labels Pick-A-Punch and this card almost made itself.

PETAL PARK
I’ve used the Petal Park Stamp Set (and punch) a couple of times already but today I wanted to try something different. So I began by choosing the two very large stamps in the set and a Soft Succulent ink pad. Next I cut two pieces of Basic White Card; one 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″ for the front, and for the inside 4″ x 5-1/4″. Then I stamped the whole large leafy outline image onto the centre of the smaller piece. On the larger piece I just stamped one end of the image across the top left and bottom right corners. Finally I stamped the leafy outline over the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope, before setting that and the larger layer aside.
Now I could concentrate on my card front. So I picked up to the large solid stamp designed to add colour to the stamped outline image. Before doing anything else I first needed to make sure that I got the stamp properly positioned on the acrylic block. To do this I placed the clean stamp face down on top of my stamped outline. As I looked through the clear photopolymer stamp I moved the various parts of the stamp so that each section perfectly lined up with the outline below. Once I was happy I simply pressed my acrylic block on top to pick it up.
Next, after tapping the stamp onto the Soft Succulent ink pad, I ‘stamped-off’ onto some scrap paper to remove some of the ink. Then when I stamped onto my outline image it gave me the same colour, only lighter.
With the leaves done I picked up the outline and solid stamps for the triple flower combination. I stamped the outline first using Rich Razzleberry ink onto some Basic White Card. Then using the same ‘stamping-off’ technique I coloured in the flowers with the solid stamp. From there I lined up the triple image in the Petal Park Builder Punch and with one squeeze punched out three separate flowers.
HAPPY LABEL CHOICES
For my sentiment I turned to the Happy Labels Stamp Set. This set has lots of unique sentiments all designed to work with the Happy Labels Pick-A-Punch. This amazing punch is really versatile with the ability to punch label strips in three widths; 1/2″, 3/4″ and 1″. If that wasn’t enough, you than have the choice of two different end style for the three widths!
So from the Happy Labels Stamp Set I chose “There’s no one like you”. Using Rich Razzleberry ink I stamped it onto a 1″ x 3″ piece of Basic White Card. Next, using the in-built guides I slid one end under the scalloped option on the punch and pressed down. Then I turned the strip around, slid it along the same guide, and punched the other end.

From there everything came together really quickly. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some Rich Razzleberry Card. After folding it along the scored line I sharped the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the larger stamped Basic White layer on the inside.
Before adding the other Basic White layer to the card front I decided to glue it onto a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Soft Succulent Card. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the three punched flowers, followed by the sentiment. For some extra interest I added some self-adhesive blue/green Faux Sea Glass Shapes and pressed them down firmly.
Finally with more Stampin’ Dimensionals I fixed the assembled layers to the card base and I was done.
This card has a clean, fresh look and I love how the simple elements and colours come together. I’m also looking forward to all the possibilities the new Happy Labels Pick-A-Punch will bring to my papercrafting.
In case you missed it, I used another of the sentiments from the Happy Labels Stamp Set in my blog post Bits of favoured flowers.
