When I lived in the UK I spent a lot of time researching my family history. I loved following the clues in historical records to find out things that gave a window into my family’s past. Spending time looking at census and other documents meant I came to appreciate different types of handwriting. So it was probably unsurprising that I fell in love with the new Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set. I knew it would be perfect for a Simple Sunday card.

SIMPLE BACKGROUND
But before I got to the stamping I needed to create my simple background.
I chose some of the new Pretty Peacock Card to create my card base. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue I added a centre panel of Very Vanilla Card.
On top of that panel I then added a piece from the new Come Sail Away 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack.
While I had the DSP there I also glued a piece to the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. Then with Paper Snips I cut the paper to shape following the edge of the flap.
WOVEN HEIRLOOMS
Next I chose two sentiments from the new Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set

First I stamped the larger sentiment on a layer of Very Vanilla Card using Pretty Peacock ink. I then fixed the layer inside the card base with liquid glue.
With that done I stamped ‘Thinking of You’ onto a wide strip of Very Vanilla Card.
Before attaching this sentiment strip to the card front I first attached a piece of new Very Vanilla 3/8″ Scalloped Lace Trim along the bottom edge. To do this I put Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the strip and then fixed the top edge of the lace to it.

Then using more liquid glue I fixed the lace-edged sentiment to the card front. That was it, in no time at all my project was complete.
There’s so much I like about this card. The DSP background is interesting but not overpowering, and 8 scallops of the lace trim exactly fit across the card base.
Of course this wouldn’t have the vintage feel without the gorgeous scripted sentiments. This is definitely one stamp set I think will stay in my family for generations…
