Every now and then I'm reminded of an old technique and sometimes a stamp set prompts that memory. This was what happened when I pulled out the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set. I realised that the butterfly images would be perfect for a tone-on-tone background technique using clear embossing powder. Clear Embossing Technique I began this project with one of the dual butterfly images from the Butterfly Gala Stamp Set and a 3-7/8" x 5-1/8" layer of Merry Merlot Card. Using VersaMark ink I ... Thinking About Seasonal Paper
One of the hazards of buying patterned paper in packs is thinking of the pack as a whole. For instance a pack of Christmas-themed paper gets overlooked when making a non-Christmas project. I always try to see past the obvious and make a mental note of designs that could work at other times. Take the Snowflake Splendor Designer Series Paper (DSP). Snowflakes are seasonal, not just for Christmas, so today I used one of the sheets to make a thinking of you card. CALMING SNOWFLAKES The ... VIEW POST
Our Quiet Snow Scene Didn’t Last
As I predicted the snow scene we woke up to yesterday didn't last. The glorious sun melted most of it away, even though is was very cold in the wind. Still it's not even winter yet and there's potentially more snow in the forecast at the end of the week. So it won't be long before there's more pretty snow to enjoy from the comfort of the house. I think it's rather fitting therefore that I'd chosen this quiet snow scene card for today's Simple Sunday project. It was one that I made during ... VIEW POST
My World Card Making Day Challenge
Right now I'm in the middle of my personal World Card Making Day challenge. The plan is to design and create from scratch 24 cards in 24 hours, and coordinate the insides of the cards and envelopes too. I started my challenge at 6pm last evening and so have 10 hours left to achieve my goal. You can follow my progress over on my Facebook page where I'm posting snapshots of the cards as they are completed. Over the coming weeks I'll take better photos and post each project on my blog with ... VIEW POST
Woven Threads and Textured Threads
Last week my sister-in-law lost her 21 month battle with brain cancer. While we knew the end was near it still came as a shock to hear she had finally passed. She inspired everyone with her courage and determination to fight to the end, and she will be very much missed. So this morning I sat down to create a sympathy card using the Woven Heirlooms Stamp Set and Woven Threads Designer Series Paper (DSP). WOVEN THREADS I began by choosing the Pretty Peacock design from the Woven Threads ... VIEW POST
Seaside Memories One Year On
One year ago today we were in Lanzarote (part of the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa) for our daughter's wedding. It was such a lovely day albeit a little breezy with the wind coming off the ocean. So many amazing memories to cherish from our stay there, with walks along the beach and the volcanic landscape in the background. It hardly seems possible that a year has gone by since those celebrations. When I sat down to create today's simple Sunday project I was immediately drawn ... VIEW POST
