Does anyone else get hung up on one or two patterns in a paper pack that affects your whole view of the pack? In the current Sale-A-Bration Brochure I saw the wood slice pattern in the Rings of Love Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack and it left me cold. So I immediately decided that I wouldn’t choose that paper, even if it was free! However after seeing samples made using other designs in the pack I changed my mind. For instance, how could I miss out on these sweet birds?

LOVE IS FUSSY CUTTING
This card was all about the flock of birds and that’s where I started. First I cut a 3″ x 4-1/4″ piece of the DSP and a 3-1/8″ x 4-3/8″ piece of Crushed Curry Card. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the DSP onto the card.
Next I used my Paper Trimmer to cut and score some Night of Navy Card for the card base. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. Finally I added the layered DSP to the front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and set it aside.
Going back to the DSP I used my Paper Snips to fussy cut two individual birds, each one complete with a small piece of a branch. Using liquid glue I then fixed one bird onto the flap of a Basic White Envelope. The second bird was glued near the top of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White Card and then I added the layer to the inside of the card base.
That just left the sentiment to do.
INSPIRED THOUGHTS
This project was definitely all about the birds and I had a hard time covering any of them up. So my choice of sentiment really was influenced by the space I had available.

In the end I found exactly what I needed in the Inspired Thoughts Stamp Set, “you make a difference every day”. First I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Basic White Card using Night of Navy ink. Then I cut it out using the smallest of the hexagon-shaped dies in the Beautiful Shapes Dies set.
Before going any further I decided to add a few Pearl Basic Jewels to the sentiment piece so I could make sure they were firmly attached. Then after putting Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the sentiment I added it to the card. Just like that my project was complete.
Looking back it I realise that I was very hasty in my initial decision about the Rings of Love DSP. Having got the pack I’ve found that I still don’t like that wood slice pattern. But I do love so many more of the other sheets that makes it all worthwhile. I definitely need to remember to look more closely at all the patterns in any particular pack in future!
