Great news! The All About Autumn 6” x 6” Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) is back in stock. Yay! With autumn ‘photos’ on one side and copper foiled patterns on the other, this has to be my favourite paper from the Mini Catalogue. I love the warm colour combinations and the images are simply gorgeous. For today’s “thinking of you” card I decided to combine an autumn leaf photo with the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder. And it gave me a rare desire to use orange for my card base.
Once upon a time I wasn’t keen on 6” x 6″ paper as I thought it limited my creativity, but not any more. I’ve discovered that it’s actually quite easy to decorate the front and inside of a card, and make a coordinating envelope with one 6” x 6” piece of DSP.
I decided to use the darker end of the paper to decorate the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. So for this I needed to cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ strip. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the DSP to the flap. Then I simply trimmed off the excess with my Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Next I looked at what was left of the DSP sheet and cut a 3/4″ x 6″ piece off the bottom. After trimming it to 5-1/4″, I glued the narrow strip down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card.
Finally I turned the remaining 3″ high piece of DSP so the branches pointed upwards and cut a 2-5/8″ section from the right-hand side. For my mat layers I first cut a 2-3/4″ x 3-1/8″ piece of Cajun Craze Card, followed by a 2-7/8″ x 3-1/4″ piece of Pumpkin Pie Card. Then I layered the card and DSP together using liquid glue.
To finish the layered DSP I cut three 4″ pieces of Crumb Cake twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. Then I wrapped them around the bottom of the layered DSP with a slightly larger gap between the first two pieces and the third one. Once the ends were secured on the back of the layers with Tear & Tape Adhesive I was ready to work on the rest of the card.
LEAF FALL REMINDER
I decided to start the next phase of my project by cutting and scoring some Pumpkin Pie Card for my A2 card base. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder. With that done I glued the already prepared Very Vanilla Layer on the inside.
I cut another 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card and pulled out the Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder. This folder has a sort of diagonal design that leaves a smooth area across one corner. I decided to take advantage of that. But first I needed to stamp my sentiment.
I chose the medium-sized “Thinking of you” sentiment from the Go To Greetings Stamp Set. Using Cajun Craze ink I stamped it in the bottom right-hand corner of the Very Vanilla layer. Now with that done I placed the card inside the embossing folder and adjusted it so the stamping stayed within the smooth area. Then I embossed the card.
From there I used liquid glue to mount the embossed layer onto a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece of Cajun Craze Card. Then I glued these layers to the card front. Finally I added the twine wrapped layers with Stampin’ Dimensionals and my autumn leaf card was finally complete.
