Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been away at a Stampin’ Up! event being held in Orlando, Florida. I had a great time and among other things I am now the proud owner of a 2019 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration Brochure. Although hubby and I drove down together, he had to fly back early, so I was left to bring the car home alone. Lots of people thought I was mad but I was looking forward to the journey. In the end I completed the trip in just 4 days, and proved that pigs can fly, just as my project shows.
PIGS FIRST
I began with the flying pig image from the This Little Piggy Stamp Set.
Using Flirty Flamingo ink I inked up the image, then I went over the sentiment part with the brush tip of a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker. I breathed on the image to remoisten the ink and then stamped it in the middle of a layer of Very Vanilla Card. I also stamped the front of the pig coming in from the top left corner on the front of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope after covering the sentiment with some sellotape.
Then I coloured in the images using Stampin’ Blends in dark Petal Pink and light and dark Flirty Flamingo.
PIGS CAN FLY
Next I stamped the same pig image onto a Full-Adhesive Post-It® Note and cut it out with Paper Snips to create a mask. Then I placed the mask over the pig on the Very Vanilla layer so that I could create the sky.
After that I quickly sponged Balmy Blue ink lightly over the whole piece.
To complete the scene I used my Big Shot and Magnetic Platform to cut out some Shimmery White Card using the three cloud dies from the Up & Away Thinlits.
I added the clouds to the background using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) and then removed the mask from the pig.
SIMPLE LAYERS
Next, using my Stampin’ Trimmer I cut and scored a piece of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create the card base.
The flying pig layer was attached to a layer of Powder Pink Card with liquid glue and then fixed to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
All that was left was to use the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to ink up the ‘…so she did’ sentiment and then stamp it onto a layer of Very Vanilla Card. I fixed the layer inside the card base and my Pigs Can Fly project was done.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the This Little Piggy Stamp Set and love how this project turned out. What do you think?
NEW CATALOGUES ANYONE?
I’m in the process of finalising my mailing list for the 2019 Occasions Catalogue and Sale-A-Bration Brochure. If you live in Canada and don’t currently have a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator I’d be happy to add you to my list. Just contact me.
If you have purchased any Stampin’ Up! items through me in the past 12 months you don’t have to do anything more. I will automatically send you the catalogue and brochure in early December.
