So I took advantage of this unexpected opportunity to create a pretty “thinking of you” card, inspired by the maple trees in my garden.
MAPLE SEEDLINGS
Having decided to use the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set for today’s card I went for a walk along our driveway. This is bordered on both sides by mature maple trees and I noticed the other day that the seeds had started to drop. So I went to collect some of these seeds to inspire me.
Once back at my desk I pulled out my Mossy Meadow ink pad. First I inked up the large maple leaf and seeds image, then I stamped-off onto some scrap paper to remove a little of the ink. Next I took a Sponge Dauber and tapped it lightly onto my Moody Mauve ink pad. Looking at the surface of the rubber stamp I tapped the Sponge Dauber over the ends of the seeds and tips of the leaf. Finally I stamped the multi-coloured image onto a piece of Very Vanilla Card before cutting around it with my Paper Snips.
Before putting away the large stamp I cleaned it off and reinked it with the two colours as before. Then I stamped the image onto the flap of a Very Vanilla Medium Envelope. I cleaned and reinked it once more then added a bit more of the leaf beside the first one to fill in a bit more of the flap.
Finally I cleaned, reinked and stamped part of the image a couple of times coming in from the top edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card.
For my sentiment I went back to the Soft Seedlings Stamp Set and Mossy Meadow ink pad. I chose “thinking of you” and stamped it towards the right-hand end of a 1″ x 5-3/8″ strip of Very Vanilla Card.
TEXTURE AND LAYERS
With the main pieces done I was ready to start putting everything together.
First I cut and scored some Soft Sea Foam Card. After folding it along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my A2 card base. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the stamped Very Vanilla layer on the inside.
Next I cut a 4-1/8″ x 5-3/8″ piece of Soft Sea Foam Card and added texture to it using the Timber 3D Embossing Folder. Using liquid glue once more I glued this layer onto the front of the card base.
Then I cut a 1-1/4″ x 5-3/8″ strip of Moody Mauve Card and glued the sentiment strip on top. This was added to the card front 1/2″ from the bottom edge using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I covered the back of the fussy-cut maple leaf and seed image with piece of Stampin’ Dimensionals. One I’d pressed it onto the card front my project was complete.
