Thank heavens it’s finally Friday! This week has seemed to go on forever, but somehow there’s still a lot on my to do list. My plan today is to warm up with a few easy jobs before attacking one of the larger ones. Then as a reward I may take 30 minutes to recharge with a good book. I’m a ‘real’ book kind of person, and of course that means I need a proper bookmark. Here’s one I made a few days ago using the In The Moment Stamp Set.

IN THE MOMENT
As soon as I saw it I knew I’d have to get the In The Moment Stamp Set. With its three large line art images and coordinating sentiments I knew it would provide lots of project inspiration. As well as papercrafting and reading, I find colouring relaxing too so that’s where this project began.
Using Tuxedo Black ink I stamped the image at the bottom of a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then so as not to repeat a mistake from another project, I shaped the top of the strip using the Fancy Tag Topper Punch.
With that done I could see the space I had left for my sentiment. I chose “Sometimes the most productive thing you can do is relax” and stamped it using Tuxedo Black ink.
Then it was time to break out my Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers to colour in the image.
I began with the pillows and sheet under her feet using light and dark Soft Sea Foam. Then for the shawl around her shoulders I used light and dark Pale Papaya. Next I coloured her socks with light and dark Highland Heather, followed by her trousers in light and dark Smoky Slate. The book pages were coloured with light Soft Sea Foam, with light and dark Crumb cake for the cover. Finally I coloured her skin and the outside of the mug in Ivory, with light Cinnamon Cider on the inside of the mug.
Then I began to experiment with mixing colours… For the dog I started with a layer of Ivory and then added areas of light and dark Cinnamon Cider. With that done, I coloured her hair with dark Crumb Cake, adding lines of light Cinnamon Cider for some variation.

At last the colouring was complete and I started looking through my ribbon stash. I couldn’t find anything I wanted to use so I decided to improvise with four 6″ pieces of white twine from the Baker’s Twine Essentials Pack. I placed the twine on some scrap paper and then, using the brush tip of my Stampin’ Blends, I coloured each one a different colour. By the time I was done I had one each in light Cinnamon Cider, dark Pale Papaya, dark Highland Heather and dark Soft Sea Foam.
After leaving the twine to dry for a minute or two I folded the four pieces in half and put the loops through the top of the bookmark. Then I passed the cut ends of the twine through the loops and pulled tight to secure it in place. My bookmark was now finished and I was rested and ready to tackle another less inspiring task.
I love how this bookmark turned out. The image is actually slightly wider than the 2″ strip of card but still works well don’t you think?
