Today is Father’s Day and it looks like the weather is going to cooperate. Like many people when it’s nice I like to get outside and enjoy it. That means less time indoors to craft, although I never stop entirely. This time of year also sees lots of celebrations with graduations, weddings, births etc. So for today’s simple Sunday post I designed a quick box project using the Scalloped Kraft Treat Box, a little paper and the Celebrating You Stamp Set. It’s food-safe too and perfect for a homemade treat.

EASY TREAT BOX
The Scalloped Kraft Treat Box consists of a base and separate lid. It’s really simple to put together and needs no adhesive. However what I love about this particular box is the very large tabs which are folded in first. With the final section closed using the tab this gives 3 layers of card on the base and lid, making it very sturdy. Once the two parts are assembled, the lid just slides over the base.
One of the problems I hear from a lot of crafters is how to tie a pretty bow, especially when wrapped around something like a box. So my simple Sunday solution is to decorate the top and not wrap the box with ribbon at all. This also means the box can be opened and closed without affecting its appearance.
Once I’d put together the box I began by cutting a 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Then from the Texture Chic 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper I chose a design in Evening Evergreen with gold details. After cutting a 2-5/8″ x 2-5/8″ piece I mounted it onto the Gold Foil layer using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).
Next I cut a 4″ piece of 3/8″ Gold Shimmer Ribbon and wrapped it around the layers about 3/4″ from the bottom edge. This was fixed into place with a little Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the foil layer. With that done I attached the assembled layers to the box lid using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
SIMPLE DETAILS
For my sentiment I chose “Just for you” from the Celebrating You Stamp Set. Then using Evening Evergreen ink to match the paper I stamped it onto some Thick Basic White Card.

The sentiment fitted perfectly inside the main part of the Label Me Fancy Punch and I liked the punched shape too. However I did think it needed just a little more detail. I considered jewels and other embellishments but they all seemed a bit fussy, or didn’t coordinate well. But then I had an idea…
I placed the punched sentiment on my Paper Trimmer with one of the straight edges at 1/8″. Then using the scoring blade on the trimmer I scored a line. Next I moved the sentiment over so the same straight edge was at 1/4″ and scored again. I liked the result so I turned the punched piece around and repeated the process on the other straight edge.
With that done I simply put some Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back and fixed the sentiment to the box lid. In no time at all my treat box was ready to fill.
I have to say I love the Scalloped Kraft Treat Boxes as they are a great backup when you need a box in a hurry. The assembled box measures 3-1/2″ x 3-1/2″ x 2-1/2″ and the scalloped edge on the lid adds a nice gender-neutral detail. Now to decide what treats to put in the box…
