Once upon a time I had patterned paper that paired beautifully with a number of sea-themed stamp sets. Sadly the paper retired and as a result my interest in the stamp sets waned. But I’ve come to realise that crafting is a circle of trends, ideas and inspiration. So when I opened up the new Hello, Irresistible 6” x 6” Designer Series Paper (DSP) I was inspired to revisit the Whale Done Stamp Set. The announcement from Stampin’ Up! that the Pretty Peacock colour is returning soon didn’t hurt either.

HELLO, IRRESISTIBLE
Starting Matrch 1st Stampin’ Up! is releasing a number of brand new products as part of it’s Online Exclusives range. Among these is a new stamp set and coordinating dies called Irresistible Blooms. I’ll say right now that although I could have got them early I’ve held off. But what I did buy from the Hello, Irresistible suite was the 6″ x 6″ DSP pack. While there’s lots of floral designs, one more leafy pattern made me think of an underwater scene.
The colours used on this sheet are two that will be returning to the Stampin’ Up! range; Pretty Peacock and Lost Lagoon. These will definitely be available for customers to buy when the Stampin’ Up! 2023/2024 Annual Catalogue goes live on May 2nd. However I’m hoping that these particular colours might be reintroduced early. We’ll have to wait until March 1st to find out.
Meanwhile I discovered that I still had a Pretty Peacock ink pad and coordinating cardstock left over from when it was one of the 2019-2021 In Colors. So with that I set to work using my Paper Trimmer to cut and score the Pretty Peacock Card. After folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create my card base.
Next I cut the sheet of Hello, Irresistible DSP to 4″ x 5-1/4″. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the paper onto the card front.
WHALE DONE REVISITED
Now I wanted an appropriate sentiment and chose “My love for you is bigger than the ocean” from the Whale Done Stamp Set. Using VersaMark ink I stamped the sentiment onto a 1″ x 4″ strip of Pretty Peacock Card. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with white powder from the Basics Embossing Powders pack. After tapping off the excess powder I removed a few stray specks, before melting the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).

As I couldn’t find any old Lost Lagoon Card in my retired stash I instead chose Soft Sea Foam for my contrasting colour. First I cut a 1-1/4″ x 4″ strip and glued the sentiment layer on top. Then I added it to my card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
For the inside of the card I decided to use the same Soft Sea Foam Card and cut a layer 4″ x 5-1/4″. However I needed to decorate it before gluing it into place. So going back to the Whale Done Stamp Set I took the two grassy images. Then using Pretty Peacock ink I stamped them in the bottom right corner of the card layer. Having done that I added the layer to the inside the card base with liquid glue.
Finally I stamped the same grassy images in the bottom right corner on the front of a Basic White Medium Envelope and with that my latest sneak peek project was complete.
I really love the Hello, Irresistible DSP and this card is just one example of how this ‘floral’ paper can be used for more masculine or gender-neutral projects. What do you think?
Now I’m off to play with some other new products being released on March 1st. I hope you’ll come back tomorrow to see my next sneak peek project.
