This morning I heard that one of my two-year old granddaughters has just broken out in chicken pox, I’m sure her twin sister won’t be far behind. Meanwhile my eldest granddaughter and I are making plans for her to spend some of the summer here with us. Like me and her Mum she loves to read and so I couldn’t resist making this bookmark for her. The Goosebumps series of books by author R.L. Stine are quite scary, unlike this pair of birds from the Silly Goose Stamp Set.

GOOSE BUMPS
As soon as I saw the “goose bumps” sentiment I was reminded of the books and making a bookmark was probably inevitable. I began with a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Basic White Card and stamped the sentiment in the top left corner using Pebbled Path ink. Then I stamped the image of the pair of geese beside it.
To colour the geese I decided to use two sets of Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers. First I added the shading on the feathers using dark Gray Granite, then I went over all the feathers with light Gray Granite to blend it in. For the beaks and feet I used the dark and light Pumpkin Pie. Finally to ‘anchor’ the birds I grabbed the dark Gray Granite and scribbled some horizontal lines below their feet. Now they no longer appeared to be floating.
With the hard work done I decided to mount the completed piece onto some Pumpkin Pie Card. In amongst the my scraps I found a strip that was 2-1/8″ x 6-1/2″. Initially I’d planned to trim this down but then I wondered why. So instead I simply used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to attach the Basic White layer towards the left end of the Pumpkin Pie strip.
Then I punched a slot in the centre of the right-hand end of the Pumpkin Pie layer using the Very Best Trio Punch. Finally I threaded 6″ of Gold & Vanilla Satin Edged Ribbon through the slot and secured it in place with Mini Glue Dots. With that my bookmark was complete and ready for Alyssa’s arrival in a couple of months.
