My regular blog readers will know that I love experimenting with colour combinations. Red, green and gold are lovely for Christmas but I seem to be obsessed with another colour right now. So today’s Simple Sunday project is a blue Christmas card, well two blues actually.

BLUE CHRISTMAS
My project all started with the Merry Christmas To All Stamp Set. I pulled out the separate “Merry” and “Christmas” stamps and set them up on my acrylic block. These are see-through photopolymer stamps so it was really easy to nest them together. Then I stamped the completed sentiment onto some Whisper White Card using Night of Navy ink.
Also in the Merry Christmas To All Stamp Set are some pretty decorative images. I chose the one of the larger flourishes and stamped that on each side of my sentiment using Seaside Spray ink.
My original thought was to use a Night of Navy Card base but I’ve done that a lot recently with my Paper Pumpkin alternate projects. So instead I decided to make my card base from Seaside Spray Card. Then I could use Night of Navy Card to mount the stamped layer.
When I went to my card scraps tin I found some card that would work, but it was just a little too big. I toyed with the idea of cutting 1/4″ off the bottom but in the end decided against. I quite liked the way the stamped layer looked with the extra Night of Navy Card showing at the bottom. So I just used Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix the layers together.

To complete the blue Christmas panel I wrapped some Seaside Spray 1/4″ Metallic Ribbon around it and secured the ends on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive. Then I mounted it onto the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
FINAL TOUCHES
With the front of my blue Christmas card complete I had just the inside and envelope to do, so I went back to that pretty flourish image and the Seaside Spray ink pad.
On a layer of Whisper White Card I stamped the image in the centre near the top. Then I fixed the layer inside the card base with liquid glue. Once I’d stamped one final flourish in the middle of the flap on a Whisper White Medium Envelope I was done.
Quick and easy, and the perfect design when you need a stack of Christmas cards in a hurry.
Talking of hurry, I’d better be off. I’m at a craft fair being held at the Recreation Centre in Economy, NS from 9am to 2pm today. If you’re in the area, do pop by my table and say hello.
Very elegant, Tracy. And of course, I love the colours!!
Thank you Geraldine, I had a feeling you would.
