When Stampin’ Up! announced that selected packs of Designer Series Paper (DSP) would be on sale at 15% during June I was really excited. I definitely wanted Earthen Elegance and Let’s Go Fishing, and jumped at the chance to pay less for them. Sadly UPS decided to take the parcel on a magical mystery tour of Ontario and I eventually received it a week late. The first thing I made with the Let’s Go Fishing DSP was this bookmark, complete with a seasonal sentiment from the Brightest Glow Stamp Set.

LET’S GO FISHING

While it’s generally thought of as a Christmas sentiment I decided that “Tis the season” could refer to any season; baseball, football, BBQ, hunting etc. It all depends on the images that accompany it and that was the spark I needed.

I began by cutting a 2″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Misty Moonlight Card. From the Let’s Go Fishing DSP pack I chose the watery design and cut a 1-3/4″ x 5-1/2″ strip. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted the DSP onto the card.

Next I cut a 1″ x 1-3/4″ piece of Basic White Card and using Misty Moonlight ink I stamped the sentiment in the centre. With that done I glued the sentiment to the watery layer about an inch from the bottom edge.

Next I selected the DSP sheet with fish in various sizes and colours. I cut out two of the smaller Calypso Coral coloured fish and glued them into place slightly overlapping the sentiment layer.

Finally I punched a slot at the top of the assembled layers using the Very Best Trio Punch. Then I cut 6″ of 3/8″ Night of Navy Bordered Ribbon and threaded it through the slot. Once I’d secured the ribbon in place with Mini Glue Dots my fishing season bookmark was complete.

Now I have the paper it’s persuaded me to order the Gone Fishing Stamp Set and coordinating Gone Fishing Dies. Mind you I’ll be sure to order them as a bundle using the single item number so I’ll save 10% off the cost of buying them separately. What’s funny is as I looked at the stamp set and dies they gave me an idea for an actual Christmas card. Watch this space!
