Last Friday I created a card for the Hand Stamped Sentiments design challenge using four ink colours. The card was pretty simple but had an explosion of colour. Today for my Simple Sunday project I wanted to use those same four ink colours to create a card with a very different feel.

FOUR INK COLOURS
The four colours required for the challenge were Pretty Peacock, Mint Macaron, Grapefruit Grove and Terracotta Tile. As in my previous card I decided to use all four of these ink colours together.
First I used Mint Macaron ink to stamp the flower outline from the Inspiring Iris Stamp Set. Then I filled in the leaves using Mint Macaron ink and the solid leaves image from the set.
Next I filled in the flower using Grapefruit Grove ink having first stamped the the solid image onto scrap paper. This gave me a less intense version of the colour. With that done I turned to the small stamp with 5 small circles in a ring. I inked this up with Grapefruit Grove, stamped-off onto scrap paper then stamped it the centre of the flower.
To complete the flower I inked up the small circle image with Terracotta Tile ink, stamped-off and then stamped that in the very centre.
At this point I decided to use this outline flower image as my coordinating element. So using Mint Macaron ink I stamped it in the bottom left corner of a layer of Whisper White Card. Then after reinking the stamp I added the image to the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope.
Three ink colours down, one to go…
That just left the sentiment for me to add using the final one of the four ink colours, Pretty Peacock. With that done I was ready to start assembling my card.
SIMPLE ASSEMBLY

With my previous card being so colourful I thought today I would create a calmer effect, so I prepared Thick Whisper White Card base. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the layer with the simple flower outline to the inside. That just left the main image and sentiment to do.
First I used liquid glue to attach the sentiment layer to a piece of Mint Macaron Card. Then with more liquid glue I mounted that onto a piece of Pretty Peacock Card.
To finish I simply used Stampin’ Dimensionals to add the assembled layers to the front of my card base and I was done.
Oh my goodness what a very different look to the card I created on Friday using the same four ink colours.
You’ll find my original card design using these same four ink colours in my earlier blog post Four colour combination.
COLOUR INSPIRATION
