I must be honest and say that the design of this simple project was only half planned. You see I’d decided to create a “Thinking of you” card and reached for the appropriately named Go To Greetings Stamp Set. However when I opened up the stamp case I found some Basic White Card that had already been stamped with the largest of the Thinking of You sentiments in Tuxedo Black ink. It was obviously meant to be, so with the new Leaf Fall 3D Embossing Folder I set to work

LEAF FALL
First I placed the stamped card inside the embossing folder so the sentiment fitted within the blank part of the folder. Then I cranked it through my full-size Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine.
I’d already decided that this embossed leaf design would become the coordinating feature so I continued on. Next I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic White Card and embossed the leaf design just across the top left corner. Then I embossed the design onto the left side of the flap on a Basic White Medium Envelope.
With the embossing done I wanted to pick out some of the details using Sponge Daubers. These are relatively inexpensive so I have a separate Sponge Dauber (each one labelled for a single Stampin’ Up! colour). This means I don’t have to wash them out, and today I didn’t even have to add any extra ink!

I began with my Cajun Craze Sponge Dauber and gently tapped it onto the raised leaf areas. Then I followed this with Old Olive and finally Cherry Cobbler. The result was a soft effect that I thought fitted perfectly with the mood of the sentiment. After colouring the sentiment panel I then repeated the process on the new Basic White layer and the envelope flap.
Putting the card together was really quick and I began by cutting and scoring some Cherry Cobbler Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create a card base. Next using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the embossed-only Basic White layer on the inside.
For the front of my card I trimmed the embossed and stamped layer to 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″. Then I glued that to a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Basic Black Card. Finally I added the assembled layers to the card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals and I was done.
I’m not sure when I stamped the original layer but I’m delighted to have finally put it to good use. Storing it inside the stamp case meant I found it at the perfect time.
