It hardly seems possible that it’s April already and Sale-A-Bration is over for another year. I hope you were all able to take advantage and get some the free products you wanted. As sad as it is to say goodbye to that promotion, I’m excited because that means the Ornate Garden Suite is now available for customers to buy.
Over the past two weeks I’ve created sneak peek projects using products from the suite. Today’s project uses the one part of the suite I haven’t yet shown you, the Ornate Layers Dies.

REST & RELAX
I decided that this project should be classic black and white but with a touch of luxury. So that meant embossing the sentiment.
I began by wiping a piece of Shimmery White Card using an Embossing Buddy to remove any oils and static. Then with VersaMark ink I stamped the sentiment from the Timeless Tropical Stamp Set. Next I sprinkled the sticky ink with Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder and tapped off the excess. Finally, after removing a few stray specks, I melted the rest using my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
With the sentiment done I decided to prepare the bookmark base next. I cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Shimmery White Card using my Paper Trimmer. Then using the Detailed Trio Punch I added a hole at the top. Finally I shaped the top right and bottom left corners using the corner rounder option on the same punch.
STRIKING LAYERS
Now I was ready to pull out the Ornate Layers Dies. I chose the 1-7/8″x 4-7/8″ fancy rectangle die for my black layer. Initially I planned to cut this from Basic Black Card but instead opted for Black Foil Sheet. Then I cut out the sentiment using the only plain edged die in the Ornate Layers Dies set.
Assembling the bookmark was a really simple task. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I fixed the fancy layer to the bookmark. Then I glued the die-cut sentiment on top.

To finish I threaded two 6″ pieces of Basic Black twine from the Country Club Twine Combo Pack through the hole, and tied it together with a simple knot. In no time at all I’d created a very striking bookmark.
ORNATE GARDEN SUITE

I have to say that I’m in love with the Ornate Garden Suite. There’s a perfect combination of floral images, sentiments, dies, paper and embellishments.
As it’s a ‘suite’ that means that you can buy everything with one simple order number, or buy just individual products if you wish. Check out the special Ornate Garden Suite section of my online store for all the options.
Here are links to my earlier blog posts showcasing all the various parts of this suite:
- Ornate products available in two weeks
- Layered effect with a faux mat technique
- Brighten your day with Pineapple Punch
- You’re part of a bigger mosaic picture
- Paper piecing is so rewarding
PRODUCT LIST
Here’s the list of all the products I used on for today’s project.
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Ornate Layers Dies in a bundle with the Ornate Flowers Stamp Set. This meant I saved 10% off the cost of buying the two items separately. I’ve included a link to that bundle below in case you want to explore that option.
