While I’ve made a number of different boxes and have easy tutorials on my YouTube channel, I’m not against buying pre-made ones too. In fact when I was in Dollarama recently I found a really nice box. It’s predominantly white, and quite sturdy, What’s more at 4-3/8” x 6-1/4” x 2-1/4” it’s not a bad size either. But what attracted me was the narrow gold foil border on the lid, and using the Shining Brightly Specialty Paper I had an idea to turn that box into something rather special.

SHINING GOLD
I thought of the Shining Brightly 12″ x 12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper (DSP) as all 6 sheets include gold foil in their designs. In the end I opted for the tile pattern on a Night of Navy background. After all I’m always saying that navy and white is a classic colour combination. All I had to do was carefully measure inside the shining gold border on the lid of the box and cut my DSP to match. Then I simply fixed it into place using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow).

Next I decided to add a ribbon in such a way that it didn’t have to be untied in order to open the box. I chose the gorgeous Night of Navy 3/8″ Bordered Ribbon and cut two pieces to fit across the top and down the sides of the lid in a cross shape. Then I tucked the ends inside the lid and fixed them in place with Mini Glue Dots.

For the sentiment I wanted something elegant and the large “noel” in the Joy Of Noel Stamp Set was perfect. Using Night of Navy ink I stamped the sentiment onto some Thick Basic White Card. Then I cut it out using the #5 circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies (counting from the smallest up).
Before adding the sentiment to the box I decided it needed a little extra bling. So I attached some small gold pearls from the Festive Pearls pack . Once they were firmly in place I attached the sentiment to the box lid with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the transformation was complete.
I love how this turned project out, and now that $1.50 Dollarama purchase is ready for an extra special Christmas gift.
