After my World Card Making Day 24 hour marathon at the weekend I wanted to create something quick and easy to wind down. So what better way to practice my colouring and design ideas than on a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of card. Of course it certainly doesn’t hurt that I can turn that strip into a bookmark with a punch and a bit of ribbon. So out came the Sweets & Treats Stamp Set and a bunch of Stampin’ Blends alcohol markers…

On my strip of Thick Whisper White Card I first needed to stamp some of the images from the Sweets & Treats Stamp Set. So for the pie image I chose Cinnamon Cider ink, followed by Smoky Slate for the cupcake, and finally for the Christmas pudding I opted for Crumb Cake.
From my Stampin’ Blends I decided to choose a variety of browns so I could mix and match to get different looks. I the end I used light and dark Soft Suede, Cinnamon Cider and Crumb Cake, plus Bronze. Then to add some brightness I chose the light and dark Poppy Parade and Daffodil Delight.
TIP – Mixing different colours of Stampin’ Blends can be very rewarding. However I always do a little test patch on a scrap piece of the same card I’m using for my project.

Once everything was coloured I shaped the top of the strip using the Delightful Tag Topper Punch.
Then I threaded some Real Red 3/8″ Sheer Ribbon through the slot and tie it in a knot. With that my quick project was complete.
Now I have a cute bookmark to keep my place in a recipe book, and so much nicer than an old envelope! What do you think?
