Among all the uncertainty over the forthcoming Retiring List one thing we can be sure of, all Host stamp sets will retire. This is because these exclusive sets are only available to purchase using ‘Stampin’ Rewards’ earned for hosting a qualifying party or submitting a qualifying order. They are always retired at the end of the catalogue in which they appear and replaced with all new stamp sets. They’re right at the back of the catalogues and easily missed which is a shame. So today’s project features the Touched My Heart (host) Stamp Set from page 187 of the 2021/2021 Annual Catalogue.

SIMPLE LAYERS
For this sympathy card I wanted a soft look with simple layers, so for my colour scheme I chose Gray Granite and Whisper White.
First, using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored a piece of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I folded it along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder to create the card base.
Then from the Peony Garden 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I chose the large Gray Granite all-over peony design. I began by cutting a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece of the DSP and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) fixed it onto the flap of a Whisper White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess with Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Next I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the DSP and glued that down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Whisper White Card. Then I added a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ strip of Gray Granite Card up against the edge of the DSP. With that done I glued the completed layer inside the card base.
Finally I cut a 3″ x 5-1/2″ piece of the DSP and mounted that onto a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Gray Granite Card. For some extra interest I cut some Gray Granite 1/4″ Shimmer Ribbon and wrapped it around the layers. Then after securing the ribbon on the back using Tear & Tape Adhesive I fixed the assembled piece to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
TOUCHED MY HEART
All I had left to do was add a sentiment and I chose “with sympathy” from the Touched My Heart (host) Stamp Set.

Next, using Gray Granite ink I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of Thick Whisper White Card. Then I cut it out using my Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine and the #B3 die from the Stitched Rectangles Dies.
Finally using more Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the sentiment to the front of the card and my simple sympathy card was finished.

This project turned out exactly as I’d hoped. I used a simple layout but the DSP and shimmer ribbon add a subtle touch of interest. What do you think?
