As well as being a sucker for cute animal images I’m also a big fan of sentiments. My problem is that I’m not keen on loose scripted fonts, to my eye they appear scruffy. And to be honest if I’d wanted a messy sentiment I’d write it by hand! So when I saw the new Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set I was immediately drawn in. It’s one of those sets that uses two different fonts, a ‘print’ and a ‘script’ (if that makes sense), and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it.

SIMPLY WONDERFUL
Although there are lots of unique sentiments in the set, I wanted something simple for today’s more masculine card. So I chose “Congratulations” and stamped it onto a 1″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Night of Navy Card using VersaMark ink. Then I sprinkled the sticky ink with copper powder from the Metallics Embossing Powders pack. After tapping off the excess powder, I removed a few stray specks before melting the rest with my Heat Tool set on 2 (high).
With the sentiment done all I needed now was a simple card base to mount it onto. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut and scored some Night of Navy Card. Then after folding the card along the scored line I sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.
Next, from the Countryside Inn 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack I chose one of the simpler Night of Navy patterns. I began by cutting a 3″ x 5-1/4″ piece and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) fixed it to the front of the card base, 1/8″ from the crease. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the embossed sentiment strip at the bottom in the space that was left.

On the inside of the card I obviously needed a light-coloured liner and so I cut a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of Very Vanilla Card. Then along the bottom edge I glued a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the same Countryside Inn DSP. Finally I fixed the assembled layer inside the card base with more liquid glue.
That just left the Very Vanilla Medium Envelope to decorate, and for that I needed a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece of DSP. After attaching it to the envelope flap with liquid glue I simply trimmed of the excess DSP with my Paper Snips, using the edge of the flap as a guide. And just like that my first project using the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set was complete.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – The Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set is available by itself, or with coordinating dies as part of the Wonderful Thoughts Bundle. What’s really interesting is that 14 of the dies are designed to cut neatly around the 14 sentiments in the stamp set. Plus there’s five other decorative dies. However if you want both items you’ll save 10% if you order them using the single ‘bundle’ item number. I’ve included links to both options below so you can compare these if you wish.
