It’s Christmas Eve Eve and happiness is knowing we’re ready for a coming storm. The extreme winter weather that’s currently gripping most of Canada and the US is expected to arrive here later today. Fortunately we’re being spared the extreme cold, but it’s the wind and rain that has us worried. It’s possible that trees already weakened by Hurricane Fiona in October could bring down power lines. Having been left without power for 10 days then, we’re not taking any chances this time around. Christmas by candlelight is a distinct possibility.

HUES OF HAPPINESS
One of the repercussions of Hurricane Fiona was that I missed World Card Making Day on October 1st. Instead I had to postpone my personal “24 cards in 24 hours” challenge until November. The result is that I still have a few more of those projects to show you. This simple but colourful card was number 21 of 24.
I began by choosing a sheet from the Hues of Happiness 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Then I cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ piece and attached it to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope with Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow). To trim off the excess I used my Paper Snips and followed the edge of the flap as a guide.
Next I cut a 3-3/8″ x 4″ piece of the DSP and glued that onto a 3-1/2″ x 4-1/8″ layer of Daffodil Delight Card.
Finally I cut a 3/4″ x 5-1/4″ strip of the DSP and glued that down the right-hand edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White Card.
HAPPINESS ABOUNDS
For my sentiment I turned to the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set and chose “wishing you all the happiness you can imagine”. Then using Night of Navy ink I stamped the sentiment in the centre of a 1-3/4 x 2-5/8″ piece of Basic White Card. To coordinate with the background I mounted the sentiment onto a 1-7/8″ x 2-3/4″ piece of Daffodil Delight Card.
Now all I needed was my A2 card base and for that I cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White Card. With the long side of the card at the top of my Paper Trimmer I used the scoring blade to score it at 4-1/4″. Then I folded the card along the scored line and sharpened the crease with a Bone Folder.

With all the pieces ready, assembly was quick and easy. First I used liquid glue to fix the large Basic White layer on the inside of the card base. Then using Stampin’ Dimensionals I attached the layered DSP to the card front leaving an even border at the sides and top,
That just left the layered sentiment but I decided I should add a few embellishments first. So from the Iridescent Pearl Basic Jewels pack I took one large and two small self-adhesive pearls and fixed them around the sentiment. Finally, after pressing them firmly into place I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to attach the sentiment to the floral layer leaving an even border at the sides and top. In less than 15 minutes my card and coordinating envelope were complete.
I love the bright and cheerful flowers on this card and the sentiment seems perfect for many different occasions. I hope it brightens your day too.
PRODUCT LIST
BUNDLE BONUS – I bought the Happiness Abounds Stamp Set in a bundle with the coordinating Blossoming Happiness Dies (not used today). Buying the two items using a single ‘bundle’ item number saved me 10% off the cost of buying them separately. I’ve included a link to the bundle in case you want to explore that option. By the way, as well as the stamped images, the dies are designed to cut out some of the images in the Hues of Happiness DSP too.
