Happy Easter everyone. On this sunny morning here in Nova Scotia it’s easy to see that spring is in the air even if it is a tad chilly. Each day is slightly longer and the average temperature rises. Over the coming week it’s actually forecast to be quite warm. But until then I’ll satisfy myself with the flowers in my craft studio. So for today’s simple Sunday project I created a quick and easy “thinking of you” card using the Abigail Rose Designer Series Paper (DSP) which is now retiring.

ABIGAIL ROSE TULIPS
I began by cutting a 6″ x 6″ piece of the tulip pattern from the Abigail Rose paper. This one piece would be enough for the front of the card, and to decorate the inside and the envelope.
So from the 6″ x 6″ piece I first cut a 2-1/4″ x 6″ strip. Using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the paper to the flap of a Basic White Medium Envelope. Then I trimmed off the excess paper with Paper Snips using the edge of the flap as a guide.
Next from the DSP I cut a 3/4″ X 6″ strip, before trimming it down to 5-1/4″ long. Using liquid glue once more I attached the strip along the bottom edge of a 4″ x 5-1/4″ layer of Basic White Card. Then up against the top edge of the DSP I glued a 1/8″ x 5-1/4″ strip of retiring Soft Suede Card.
That just left a 3″ x 6″ piece of the DSP and I trimmed that down to 5-1/2″ before mounting it onto a 3-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Soft Suede Card.
THINKING OF YOU
With the Abigail Rose pieces all done it was time to make my card base. Using my Paper Trimmer I cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of Thick Basic White Card. Then with the long side at the top I used the scoring blade on my Paper Trimmer to score the card at 4-1/4″. After folding the card along the scored line I used my Bone Folder to sharpen the crease.
Now I could use liquid glue to fix the assembled Basic White layer on the inside of the card base, leaving an even border on all sides.

Next I glued the main tulip layer to the card front up against the crease.
All I needed now was a sentiment and for that I went back to my favourite Go To Greetings Stamp Set. Today I chose the middle-sized “thinking of you” and stamped it in the white space on the front of my card base with retirng Soft Suede ink. And with that my quick and easy “thinking of you” card was complete.
