Did you know that Mother’s Day is not held on the same date around the world? In the UK Mother’s Day is next Sunday (March 19th) and I’m always reminded of stores filled with bunches of bright yellow daffodils. However here in Nova Scotia it’s still way too cold for daffs, or pretty much any kind of flower. So perhaps that’s why Canadians celebrate Mother’s Day in May. Nevertheless for today’s project I decided to create this little favour box using the Celebrating You Stamp Set and Pretty Pillowbox Dies.

PRETTY PILLOW BOX
I began with a 4-1/2″ x 6″ piece from the Abigail Rose 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. Then I placed the main die from the Pretty Pillowbox Dies on top and ran it through my Cut & Emboss Machine.
Next, using just my fingers, I folded the DSP piece along the lines created during the die-cutting process. Then after overlapping the side flaps I glued them together using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to create the basic pillowbox shape.
This method of putting together the pillowbox leaves a flap like an envelope which is how I planned to fill the completed project. To hold it closed I wrapped 8″ of 7/8″ Natural Finish Ribbon around the pillowbox and secured it at the top using some gold cord from the Simply Elegant Trim pack tied in a simple bow.
Before putting away the Pretty Pillowbox Dies I used one of each of the small flower dies to cut some scraps of Gold Foil Sheet. Using liquid glue I fixed the smaller flower on top of the larger one, so the larger petals peeked between the smaller ones. To finish the flower I added one of the 4mm Very Vanilla embellishments from the Classic Matte Dots pack.
CELEBRATING YOU
The pieces for my project were almost complete but I still needed a sentiment. So for that I turned to the Celebrating You Stamp Set and the pretty “Happy Mother’s Day”.

Using Early Espresso ink I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of Thick Very Vanilla Card. Then using Paper Snips I cut around the words.
Now to finished off my project I attached the assembled flower to the centre of the ribbon with a Mini Glue Dot. Finally I added the sentiment using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and my Mother’s Day pillowbox was done.
I think the Celebrating You Stamp Set with it’s great choice of sentiments is the perfect addition to my stamp stash. For some other projects using sentiments from this set, see these earlier blog posts:
PRODUCT LIST
RETIRING PREDICTIONS – From the list of products used today I think that the following items are very likely to appear on the Last Chance list being revealed by Stampin’ Up! on March 29th… Abigail Rose DSP, Classic Matte Dots and Pretty Pillowbox Dies.
