Today’s project kind of just happened. Quite simply it started after a Saran Wrap background popped into my head. Then I thought ‘winter’ and chose a pale blue and grey colour scheme. Winter of course meant snow, and I opted for snowmen rather than snowflakes. With shimmer and shine provided by a retiring Glimmer Paper and a Wink of Stella Glitter Brush, all I had to do was put it all together.

CUSTOM BACKGROUND
I began my project with the custom Saran Wrap background on a 3-3/4″ x 5-1/4″ piece of retiring Whisper White Card. I loosely scrunched up some Saran Wrap into a ball and lightly tapped it onto a Smoky Slate ink pad. Then I gently tapped it onto the card a few times. Then I reinked the Saran Wrap and repeated the process until the card was covered.
While I had everything out I continued with the Saran Wrap stamping on the flap of a retiring Whisper White Medium Envelope.
With that done I got a fresh ball of Saran Wrap and repeated the process using Balmy Blue ink on the card and envelope flap. Then I set the background and envelope aside while I got to work on the card base.
I decided that this card would be a Z-fold card. So using my Paper Trimmer I cut a 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ piece of retiring Thick Whisper White Card. Then with the long side at the top I scored it at 2-1/8″. Next I flipped the card over so the bottom edge was now at the top and scored it at 4-1/4″. Then I folded the card in half and folded the front section back, before sharpening both creases with a Bone Folder.
I was now ready to add the custom background to the card base. First I cut the background piece into two strips each 1-7/8″ x 5-1/4″. Then using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I mounted each one onto a 2″ x 5-3/8″ layer of Smoky Slate Card. With that done I fixed the assembled layers to the left and right sides of the Z-fold card base.
STELLA SNOWMAN
Sticking with my blue and grey colour scheme I was now ready to create the main image for the card using the Snowman Season Stamp Set.

Using Smoky Slate ink I first stamped “Merry Christmas” at the bottom of a 3-3/8″ x 3-3/8″ piece of Whisper White Card. Then above the sentiment I stamped the tall snowman image.
To colour in my snowman I used Balmy Blue and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Markers from the Subtles Assortment.
Then to make the snow sparkle I used a Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush. Not only did I colour in the snowman, I also added Wink of Stella to the snow in the air and on the ground too.

To complete the card I used liquid glue to mount a 3-5/8″ x 3-5/8″ piece of Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper onto a 3-3/4″ x 3-3/4″ layer of Smoky Slate Card. Then I added the snowman layer onto the Glimmer Paper with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Finally I put more Stampin’ Dimensionals on the back of the assembled piece but only on the left hand side. Then I fixed the layers to the folded back section of the card base and my project was complete.
Quick and easy, but definitely a step up in the #simplestamping department. What do you think?
