I absolutely love how Stampin’ Up! coordinates its products and makes putting together projects so easy. Most of the time the coordination is obvious like when they create a whole suite of products. Sometimes though the coordination is more subtle and it takes a while for me to catch on. Today I was really excited to discover that the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper (DSP) coordinates with the Vibrant Vases Stamp Set! It really turned designing my Simple Sunday project into something extra special.

BIRD BALLAD PAPER
I love the Bird Ballad DSP but I’ve been so preoccupied with the Holiday Catalogue that I haven’t played with it in a while.
I began by using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) to fix this pretty design to a layer of Old Olive Card. Then I wrapped some Whisper White Baker’s Twine around the layers and tied it in a bow.
I decided to use a Thick Whisper White Card base so it wouldn’t distract from the Bird Ballad panel, and I added the layered piece to it using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
To complete the front I found the pretty “Just for You” sentiment in the Vibrant Vases Stamp Set, and using Old Olive ink I stamped it directly onto the card base.
CHANGE OF PLAN
Starting out, my plan was to use the Bird Ballad paper as the coordinating element on my project. However as I was putting away the sentiment I noticed that one of the flower clusters in the Vibrant Vases set reminded me of the flowers on the paper.
That prompted me to do a little test stamping. First I stamped the outline in Tuxedo Black ink. Then I added Daffodil Delight colour to the petals using the solid stamp in the set. Unfortunately my ink pad is a little juicy and it was too dark. So I stamped another black outline.
This time after inking up the solid stamp I ‘stamped-off’ onto some scrap paper to remove a little of the ink. Then when I added it to the outline image it was perfect. Finally I coloured the leaves using Old Olive ink and the solid leaf stamp.

While it was good, there was just one more thing I needed. A Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker from the Subtles collection. Using the Bird Ballad paper as my inspiration I added a little bit of Calypso Coral to the centre of the flowers. Finally I had recreated the flowers from the DSP using stamps and ink.
To complete my project all I had to do was repeat the process in the bottom corner on a layer of Whisper White Card. Then I used liquid glue to fix the layer inside my card base. Finally once I’d added my stamped flowers to the front of a Whisper White Medium Envelope I was done.
So what do you think? Do you get as excited finding extra ways to coordinate products as I do?
