Today, May 6th 2023 I shall be crafting with one eye on the television as I watch the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. Like the funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II this is history in the making. I must say it’s weird when I read about a historical event and realise I watched it happen live! Of course I know not everyone is interested in today’s events, but possibly the only way to avoid them is to turn off all your electronic devices and do something else instead. So with that in mind I created this simple bookmark using the reading bear from the Zoo Crew Designer Series Paper (DSP).

BLACK BEAR
Sadly the bear is one of the images in the Zoo Crew DSP that doesn’t match any of the dies in the Zany Zoo Dies set. Still it only took a minute to cut him out with my Paper Snips. Having done that I decided that I actually didn’t want the bear white but changing the colour was a quick and easy process.
First, using just the dark Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker I coloured the bear’s snout and a little inside his ears. Then I coloured his fur using the just the light Basic Black Stampin’ Blends. Despite being black the lighter marker still allowed the details of the bear to be seen which was perfect. The chair and book were already coloured as part of the DSP.

Next I cut a 2″ x 5-1/2″ strip of Thick Basic White Card and using Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Tombow) I attached the bear at the bottom.
With that done I added a slot at the top using the Very Best Trio Punch. Then finally I threaded 6″ of Moody Mauve 3/8″ Textured Ribbon through the slot. Once I’d secured the ribbon in place with Mini Glue Dots my cute bookmark was complete.
However you choose to spend the day, I hope you’re able to find a little time for yourself.
